This place is great. I was able to get in incredibly quickly with PA Shirvanian. She was very thorough and knowledgeable about my condition MCAS which can be hard to find treatment for. My previous allergist thinks I may also have an incredibly rare condition called Progesterone Hypersensitivity but said we had already tried everything, so my symptoms become unbearable during certain times in my cycle. She came up with a medication adjustment we could try and said she would help me explore options. Here's the part I was most impressed by- a couple weeks later I got a call from her- she had spoken with the other doctor who has treated this condition and came up with a comprehensive plan if I wanted to get a formal diagnosis for the condition. She also discussed a medication option I haven't tried yet if I didn't want to go that route. This meant so much to me- it's felt really scary dealing with this potentially rare issue with no options, and the fact that she took so much time to come up with a plan and spent valuable time discussing with me just shows she really cares about her patients and is able to be flexible with trying new things based on individual needs- which in my opinion is the single most important factor that makes an excellent provider. The office staff is also very nice and quick to respond. I'm definitely switching over care 🙂
The front staff was good. The technician was good. The Physician Assistant was a nightmare. She was rude, dismissive, was refusing to collaborate and was then pushing me to take a prescription that I didn't need. She was pushing her personal ideology and her unfounded beliefs. On 3 occasions she said "science and FDA" and when I pointed out the exact opposite from a basic Google search she was even more rude and condescending. The worst part is I had to go twice in a week. I tried calling to get a different PA for my second appointment and they would not accommodate. On the second appointment they were more than 25 minutes late but then told other people who were 15 late they would have to reschedule. Classic "rules for thee not for me".
The experience I had today just requesting a letter to state my Medical issues and to say that I could benefit from having a HEPA FILTER AIR PURIFIER. DUE TO ASTHMA AND OTHER ISSUES. THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT LIU WAS ACTING LIKE SHE COULDN'T write the simple letter as asked by the PA. She acted like she was going to have to pay for the equipment out of her pocket. I have been signed up for 80 weeks of Allergy injections. The letter was for my Case Manager to show the Medical accommodations so it can be purchased for me And then I was told I could be charged for the letter. This situation has made me think that I should not go back to this office. I thought staff should assist patients, not hinder them in the process. A simple letter stating I could benefit from this for my health issues. Dr. Mankourian seems like a great Doctor. But needs to take a look at the unprofessional conduct of his staff. I am seriously doubting if I should return to this facility. Over a simple letter to benefit my health issues. Due to the roles of profit. ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE.
I’m really excited to start my allergy shot journey. It’s been so long since I’ve dealt with my symptoms, and it’s cool to see there are other options than just popping a pill for less than ideal results. UPDATE: I arrived 9 minutes late to my appointment—well within the 10-minute grace period this office claims to offer. I was still turned away. When I asked why, I was eventually told it was because they had a meeting at 12. That information should’ve been communicated clearly, instead of using my arrival time as an excuse. To make matters worse, while I was trying to speak with staff, other patients started listening in. As I walked out, one even said, "Try not being late next time." No one from the office stepped in to maintain any level of professionalism or patient privacy. Extremely disappointing experience. I expected better communication, respect, and basic decency from a healthcare provider.
They will find a way to maximize your out of expenses & insurance costs by dividing services and doctors consultation into multiple apportionments. After my initial tele-doc appointment, the doctor recommended that I need a breathing test and skin test for allergies. I said fine, but when I went to make the in-office appointment I was told it would have to be broken up into two separate visits, which means 2 co-pay and 2 insurance invoices. I was not happy about hvg to make time in my busy schedule or the paying twice the amount for services that could have been done in one visit. My insurance co-pay is $25 but on each appointment they wanted to charge me $25 for the service and another $25 to talk to the doctor. This means $50 per visit, $100 in co-payments total for the doctor’s initial suggestion/evaluation. They are trying to make as much money off the insurance and the patient as possible! And heaven forbid you miss your appointment bc they also charge a $250 cancellation fee l
