Valentine DTLA by Wedgewood Weddings

We loved working with Clare, Galen and The Grass Room team for our wedding celebration. Their attention to detail was second to none and the planning process was made easy by the great communication and clear paperwork. On the night the team were great and welcomed our guests, keeping the event running smoothly from start to finish with our planner so we could enjoy the night. The space is also beautiful and was perfect for our 150 guests to eat, drink and dance. I would highly recommend this venue if you are planning a special celebration to delight your guests.

The Grass Room is such an amazing space to host a wedding or any other special celebration. It's a literal concrete jungle—as it has an awesome tropical green house vibe, while being located in the heart of downtown LA. I had the pleasure of planning and coordinating a wedding here, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. Dana, Clare, and the rest of the Marvimon team made the whole planning process so seamless for me and my clients. The venue itself needs little to no decor, as it is gorgeous on its own—but we had a lot of fun personalizing it to create a fun and unique vibe for the bride and groom's special day. It’s beautiful inside once it’s decorated and staff does a great job. Wedding happened and then we’re asked to crowd into a smaller area near bar so they can pick up all the benches that you sit on while watching the wedding. Chairs would be more comfortable. You have to provide everything and it’s not cheap. It’s a nice place in a very sketchy area where you can’t park without tents and drug addicts everywhere. You’re required to use the valet parking and if parking in street, you might get towed. Renting the place is at least $15k and you provide everything else including valet, decorations, bar & catering. The wedding probably cost at least $30,000+ that we attended. The people working there do a great job. I just think the traffic is awful in Los Angeles and maybe you can find a place closer to where you live and in a nicer area.

I've been lucky enough to get to photograph this venue for a couple different clients over the years. The style and aesthetic is always on point with a great combo of nature and industrial coming together. The light always find a soft way of landing here, I swear. I also find that the staff are super accommodating and provide guests and the couple with a great experience. Having shot at most venues in LA this has to be near the top for client experience. Highly recommend.

Planning Process: The coordinators here were really helpful throughout the entire process. From touring us during our first visit, to making the application process easy, to hosting follow-up meetings with us and our wedding planner, and to making sure our rehearsal was met smoothly. Atmosphere: We really love the theme of this place: full of art, romantic colors, and jungle greenery. This venue fit our 50 guest so well, making it feel intimate. Lastly, though this is an indoor wedding, they had a retractable roof over the ceremony space that gave us nice outdoor air, while at the same time AC was still provided so it was always cool. Location: This location was not only conveniently close to our DTLA home, but it also allowed our guests to stay in DTLA and enjoy the many nearby things to do. Additional features: There’s a nice outdoor area that we used to take breaks and pictures. The Madonna room is also a nice place, where my wife and I could take breaks, or where my MC could hype up my wedding party. Feedback: The sound system lacked a subwoofer (or at least couldn’t hear it), which would have made music sound a little better to listen and dance to. Also, the shared restrooms can be a bit difficult to share, especially if someone locks the door. Overall take: This venue was perfect for us, and it did exactly how we imagined it to.
