The Philharmonic was amazing! The music was engaging and the sing-along was fun! Before the show started, there was caroling by men and women which was very fun to hear. The worst part of the whole evening was the parking experience. The associate was unable to use her pay by phone or credit card and required $10 cash to park. Very unprofessional experience.

Only been to two events in this area. One was the dinosaur event (it was not good, parking was expensive and the staff was bored). This time we took our son to the Disney on Ice show (parking was more reasonable, most food prices were reasonable for an event, merch was wildly expensive, the concert area is super 80s vibe.) I guess it works but needs updating.

I found it fairly easy finding parking and the facilities were great. A few more eateries in close range would have been good.

The convention center itself was nice. Getting there and the homeless around the convention center, not so much. The food options inside are for those with iron stomachs, but if you go with a full tummy, it is a pleasant place to be.

Athena Shea

A bit of an overdue review, but my husband and I had our wedding at Padua Hills theater this past June and had a great experience with the team! We initially liked the fact that the venue had separate spaces for our guests to experience and explore, and that there was so much variety in the venue’s views, from the olive grove, to the Spanish-inspired architecture, to the mountains. As we worked more and more with the team, we also appreciated how organized, thoughtful, and kind Isabela, Ryan, and Kristina were with the actual planning process. Before we booked the venue, we were a little bit hesitant because of some older reviews of the venue mentioned bees and poor management communication led to folks having bad experiences with the venue, but we felt really supported and had all our concerns addressed the entire time. Our guests really appreciated the venues service as well, highlighting how generous the portion sizes were for the serviced dinner. This was a bit of a relief because one of the concerns we had about the venue was meal quality compared to venues like a hotel or a country club that offer full catering in conjunction with operating restaurants on site. The food turned out great, and we (but more importantly, our guests) really appreciated the menu! Our wedding was beautiful, with much of the credit going to the Padua Hills team! Would highly recommend.

We held our engagement photoshoot at Padua and we absolutely love this venue. We discovered it after attending a friend’s wedding and knew we wanted our photos held here! The venue felt so us, the place is so welcoming and our favorite memory was seeing a bear around the forest. It was a beautiful setting for such an important day, and we’re grateful for the experience. And a huge thank you for the offer to have another shoot done for us once our first session ended! It was so sweet.

Fabulous location & catering for a wedding party. Site is scenic in the hills, architecture historic and excellently maintained, staff high quality, the event organizer so well organized and made all go smoothly. The bride and groom had it how they wanted it. Food and deserts were excellent, top quality, fresh, too appealing. Most guests over indulged on food. Grand event at a grand wedding center.

As the CFO of four companies (including one in food service)…I tend to over-analyze expenditures in a way that makes the bean-counters nervous. I have a slight touch of OCD and examine procurements, labor costs, efficiency, and everything else financial in search of loss and avoidable waste. I tell you this because I consider the selection of a wedding venue to be little more than a business transaction and I do not get emotional in business. I am unlike the standard father-of-the-bride types in this mindset, which will become evident as you read on. Most dads refuse to read the menu from right to left when planning their little girl’s big day. You’ll find my analytical perspective helpful too…stay with me. When I first walked the property at Padua, I was stunned by the incredible romance and beauty of the location. It stood head and shoulders above the crowd in esthetics alone. None of the other venues we checked out could hold a candle to Padua. It is simply perfect. A warm yet impressive hideaway in the hills with magnificent scenic views, a flawless layout of buildings and open space, splendid lighting and décor inside & out, ample parking and is easily navigated to…close to the freeway but far enough you cannot see or hear it. This place is private! The outside world falls away, Padua is nestled in a setting of solitude and elegance. It is so unique in design and landscaping I cannot imagine a way they could improve it and I was able to do that with every other wedding venue we inspected. No traffic, no noise, no flyovers by planes, no competing with anything the usual wedding venues are compromised by…Padua is an oasis of tranquility. The multiple locations for the wedding ceremony make it ideal, should your special day experience unexpected weather. Padua has back-ups…no risk of wet guests! The main hall is breathtaking once the tables are decorated and the dancefloor is spacious. Lighting options provide an added bonus and Padua offers so many cool options (that are unavailable at other venues) it will take you a while to hear and see them all. Visit on a day you aren’t rushed, you are going to enjoy this. Padua’s staff directed us to vendors for an officiant, cigar bar, florist, cakemaker, photographers, DJ and everything else we needed. These people knew the venue inside-out and in working with the highly diligent Padua staff, had everything running like clockwork. Lemme tell ya, weddings can be stressful but when the operation is this closely monitored and run, there is little anxiety. The special effects worked great, the bartenders were fast, personal and well…gorgeous. The management staff at Padua oversaw everything and everyone, and they did it with a caring, softly spoken confidence that made us feel calm and catered to. Padua sets the customer care bar so high, other wedding venue staffs need to charter a plane just to see it. Here’s the one thing I didn’t anticipate. The cost. This venue was so much more than every other location we visited, I expected it to cost double or triple. But they were actually less expensive than some of the hotels, clubhouses and restaurants we shopped. Padua should raise their rates. We got so much more for the money than we would have otherwise…the bean-counter’s, bean-counter (me) felt we underpaid and that just never happens. But the one thing I discovered during our event and the one overwhelming takeaway you should glean from this review is every single person working for Padua and those on their referral list CARES ABOUT YOU! They take great pride in what they do, they are on a mission to not merely meet your needs and expectations but to exceed them to such an extent you too will draft a review like this. I don’t know how many times I was asked if there was anything I needed, if I had any concerns, was there something they could do for me…these people went well above and beyond all expectations and I am extremely grateful to Padua for making the wedding perfect. And I do not believe perfection is achievable. Padua did it somehow.

As Mrs. Sacramento, I had the absolute honor of being part of the Celebration California Regency International Pageant 2026, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, the organization demonstrated professionalism, elegance, and a genuine commitment to empowering women. The convention center was the perfect place to host this event—spacious, beautiful, and well-organized, allowing everything to run smoothly while creating a polished and elevated experience for contestants and guests alike. The atmosphere was uplifting and supportive—every contestant was celebrated not just for beauty, but for leadership, confidence, and purpose. The directors and staff went above and beyond to make each participant feel valued and seen, creating a sisterhood that extends far beyond the stage. This pageant is more than a competition—it’s a platform for growth, community impact, and personal development. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent Sacramento and to connect with such inspiring women across California. To my Mrs. California and fellow queens, thank you for your grace, strength, and sisterhood. And to anyone considering joining in the future—this is an experience that will truly transform and empower you. @ceoinbussiness @kaylahasanoffical

I have been to a lot of marriott's but this is one top notch location.. The service has been tremendous. The rooms are more than adequate with many updates.. There were a few slight repairs needed but overall it was comfortable and relaxing. The comforter on the bed was questionable, but adequate for me. The whole month of April they have music playing in the bar, which many patrons enjoyed. Of course, I took advantage of the gym and the Starbucks in the morning. I can't say a lot for the neighborhood or the area around here because I did not have enough time to look around, but they say stores stores and restaurants are close by…..

I’m honestly so unimpressed. I came for a wedding here 2 years ago, and was great but came to two weddings here in the last 6 months and it’s progressively gone downhill. New management I think. They shut down one of the weddings at 10pm for "discretionary" reasons. No explanation. The one 5 months ago was 11pm, same thing. So ODD. 300 people and the married couple frustrated. I never do this but felt I had to because weddings are so important to people and imagine their most important day being ruined?!?! So many venues out there – I’d skip over this one. I was so shocked I even took photos of the manager telling the DJ to shut down.

Gorgeous wedding venue! Perfect outdoor setting, very elegant and dreamy. Staff was on point with making everything wonderful. Bathrooms were very nice and clean. Beautiful buildings! Only two things that could've been improved: Bar service for the wedding I attended with 150 guests was molasses slow!! There were 2 bars with 2 bartenders at each and lines were 30 mins every time. Food serving was strange, but the food was delicious! Each item on the menu was served separately. The servers brought salad, then broccoli, then potatoes, then filet mignon, then tortellini…..every item of food by itself. Not sure why, but it took a long time to eat due to this. Still delicious and excellent service though.

Beautiful and well run wedding venue. As a wedding filmmaker doing 40-50 weddings per year I have the opportunity to work at a lot of venues all over Southern California and rhe world. Hummingbird and its new management are detail oriented, caring and smart in their actions for weddings. Last week’s wedding was at the Villa and it truly was magic for the couple and all their guests. It will go down in the books. In no small part because of the planner Ashley and the venue team.

As a wedding photographer, Hummingbird Nest Ranch is one of those venues that takes your breath away the moment you arrive. The Spanish-style architecture, the glowing stucco walls, and the elegant courtyards create such a timeless atmosphere. The property feels expansive yet intimate, with so many beautiful spots for portraits and celebrations. The light here is incredible, especially in the evening when the sun dips behind the hills and everything is wrapped in that soft California glow. It’s a dream for film photography, and every frame feels effortlessly romantic. The staff is wonderful to work with… so kind, organized, and genuinely invested in making each event special. They make the experience enjoyable for both couples and vendors, which makes a huge difference on a wedding day. Hummingbird Nest Ranch remains one of my favorite venues to photograph in California. It’s the perfect blend of elegance, history, and warmth, and I’m always excited when I have the opportunity to capture a celebration there.

We recently had the opportunity to have a wedding shoot for at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, and we were absolutely blown away by the setting. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this venue is something special, the mix of Spanish-style architecture, golden California hills, and soft, cinematic light made it a dream location for photo and video. Every corner of the property felt like a ready-made backdrop: peaceful, elegant, and full of character. The open layout gave us tons of space to be creative, and the golden-hour light hitting the hills behind the main villa was pure magic. It made for some of our favorite frames in the entire session. Whether you’re planning a full wedding or a styled shoot, this place offers a rare combination of romance and production-friendly flow, which, from a creative team's perspective, is gold. – Anastasia

Hummingbird Nest Ranch is such a beautiful property. It honestly doesn’t even feel like you’re still in LA. The second you drive in, it feels peaceful, like you’ve escaped somewhere far away for the weekend. It was the perfect place for a retreat and made it so easy to actually relax and unplug. The baby bunnies and squirrels were so cute! I went for Alanna Zabel's Astrology + Yoga Retreat and had such a great experience. Alanna created such a warm, welcoming environment and you can tell how much heart she puts into everything she does. The whole weekend felt really healing and restorative, but also just genuinely fun. There was a lot of laughing, great conversations, meeting new people, and leaving feeling way more grounded and recharged than when I arrived. Really grateful for the experience and already want to come back to Hummingbird Nest soon.

Wolf Lakes Park is an amazing wedding venue in the Fresno area! As a local wedding photographer, we have loved working with the team at WLP every time. They have been easy to communicate with, their staff is friendly, and let's be real, after a long day taking photos, we're starving and the food is always amazing! We've never had a bad meal there. When I was a bride, having vendors who could work well together was a huge stress relief because I knew all my vendors would be on the same team. After working with the WLP staff, trust me when I say you and your family are in excellent and experienced hands. Plus, the stunning grounds offer so much variety for photos during every season! We had our wedding at Wolf Lakes Park In September of 2025. It was a beautiful venue! From the very beginning the staff and venue overall are very professional and well kept. The staff is amazing and very attentive! The property's landscaping is also very well kept. This venue just about checked all our boxes off! (only thing we didn't get was a liquor bar, and ability to use cold sparks). This place is reasonably priced and definitely gives you your bang for your buck (not very common in the wedding industry)!! The food was delicious, we chose the hand served dinner that included the salmon, beef tornadoes, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Our guests loved the food!! I was honestly surprised myself lol! The only unfortunate experience I had was the day of- the bridal suite was not clean at all. There were spider webs full of small bugs near the front door and the bathroom was.. gross. There was mold in the toilet and i was honestly embarrassed as a bride hosting my bridesmaids. We also ran out of alcohol at one point in the night and no one came up to me and my husband and asked if we would like to replenish the bar (we were told we would be asked if it were to go empty). We didn't find out our guests were all out of drinks until much closer to final bar call so at that point it would be pointless to replenish. I also wish we were alotted more than a 6 hour event window time. I say this because by the time the groom and I were done with our formalities (cake cutting, photos, dances, speeches), we didn't have a whole lot of time to spend with our guests. Other than that, me and my husband were delighted to have hosted our event at this venue. The staff are clearly professional and you can tell they have been doing this for a long time.

The accommodations are thoughtfully designed, featuring amenities like mini-fridges and coffee bars, ensuring guests feel well taken care of. The friendly staff adds a warm touch, making interactions pleasant and accommodating.

However, potential visitors should note that amenities like pools and fire pits may have limited availability due to seasonal events, such as school group bookings. Planning ahead for meals and activities is advisable to maximize enjoyment during a stay.

I recently stayed at Wonder Valley Ranch Resort, and while the location and property is stunning and the staff were kind, I was very disappointed with our experience. The property was overcrowded with kids, especially from a school group, and there was a lot of smoke from the fire pit they were using, making it hard to relax. To make things worse, there was no restaurant on site for meals, and the nearest dining option was a 45-minute drive away. Property advertised the hot tub and pool which was closed due to the school camp .I hope the resort addresses these issues, as it has a lot of potential, but it really missed the mark for us .

We booked our stay at this resort for a fishing trip, and while the room itself was really nice—with thoughtful touches like a fridge and coffee bar, and the staff was friendly and accommodating—we were quite disappointed with the overall experience. The amenities, like the pools and hot tub, were closed upon arrival and only reopened for a limited time in the evening. Additionally, the food options were quite limited, and the nearest restaurants were far away and closed early in the evening, making it difficult to find a meal. We also encountered a lot of noise from school kids, and we were told we couldn’t use the fire pit or smoke on the property, which took away from the experience. Ultimately, we were so disappointed that we ended up checking out early. Overall, it was a mixed experience, and that’s why we’re giving it two stars.

My overall impression is that the property and the wedding event spaces were very nice, but the rooms and the rest of the facilities are so dated and feel extremely overpriced. The rooms are very basic motel-like accommodations. We stayed in the lakeside rooms and paid around $250 a night; that was with the wedding party "discount" of 5%. The rooms were clean but dim and outdated. For that resort level price I expected something a lot more modern and luxe, but we were kind of stuck since there are no other options within 45 minutes of the venue. Along with this, meal times were extremely strict and the breakfast was very basic. This was pretty jarring as the wedding (as most weddings do) went late into the night but we were told breakfast is strictly served between 8-9am. After that, there's no food options anywhere on the property until lunch (which is equally strict on time and costs extra). So we roused ourselves and got to breakfast after a late night, only to see staff starting to clear things away at 8:45. We were able to just barely grab a couple plates for the buffet as they were being taken away by staff. The buffet felt similar to a basic hotel continental breakfast, nothing special. This venue is also a summer camp so there were crowds of kids around. I was left thinking about how we paid resort prices and got summer camp treatment. Everything felt cheap and rushed. Finally, the wedding couple had paid for a large group of the wedding guests to do the ropes course, go karts, and other activities on the grounds the day after the wedding. All of the activities were extremely understaffed. We were told the ropes course was closed and we could only do the zip line, the pool was also closed, and the go karts had limited staff as well. It created a lot of confusion and disorganization. It took 45+ minutes to do any given activity because there were so few staff at each. Oh, and there was yet another strict timeline of 9am-1pm for activities. It feels like this place needs to decide if it's going to be a summer camp or an upscale venue, and commit to one or the other. It can't be both. The wedding was very nice but the rest of the weekend was anything but relaxing because everything was so rushed and understaffed.

I came to LA Live with my wife on the weekend to visit the Grammy Museum for the Selena museum. This weekend was the last week it would be there so I took her for an early mother's Day gift since that's her idol. The Grammy Museum is in the LA Live plaza near Crypto arena so I parked at the garage there. We came in the morning so traffic was not bad and there was no other event happening in the area. You have a lot of restaurants here and there also a Starbucks that we visited as well. The plaza is very cleaner and has security.

Went to L.A. Live during All-Star Weekend and the energy was incredible. Everything was well organized, and you could tell a lot of effort went into putting the events together. We even got to see Rose and Ant-Man during a locker day goodbye, which made it extra special. Great atmosphere, exciting crowd, and a fantastic place to host big events.

LA Live is a fantastic place to visit in downtown Los Angeles. The area has a great atmosphere, especially in the evening, with plenty of restaurants, entertainment, and things to do. Everything feels modern, clean, and lively, and the location next to Crypto.com Arena makes it perfect before or after an event. Definitely worth visiting when you're in LA!

ONE OF LA's BEST ENTERTAINMENT HUBS! I'm a massive fan of L.A. Live, I've come here with family to hang out before many hockey games at Crypto. and I've also been here during trips to AX at the LACC. L.A. Live is the one of most exciting places you can be in DTLA, it transforms from event to event. I had the pleasure of attending a couple weeks ago during AX's beer garden and it was a blast. The energy was great and I never felt in danger! L.A. Live has lots of security and people, so you never really feel alone, even during solo trips. I love the food options we get to enjoy here in L.A Live from the Lazy Dog, which has an excellent bar and brunch, to Smashburger which is quick, easy, and delicious. If you're in the area for a game but can't buy a ticket, Tom's Watch Bar is right across from Crypto Arena, so you can still get the game day vibes! Obviously, my Yelpers can tell you I'm a sucker for entertainment. L.A Live has superb venues for both large and more intimate events. My favorite venue in the area is the Peacock Theater, it's comfortable, stylish, and modern! Oh, and every seat in the house is great! The Novo also has a soft spot in my heart because it's also very comfortable. I've seen several shows here, and the bars are very sleek along with the decor. Yes, I love Crypto tooo, but the seats are to tight, so not as much as the other two venues. You'll find many hotels surrounding the L.A. Live area, you'll also notice the immense JW Marriott right behind Peacock which offers incredible views, hospitality, and food. Parking is almost $50 bucks so be prepared for that surprise at the parking garage. I recommend taking public transportation or a shuttle when traveling to L.A. Live.

I had my wedding there November 25th…the event staff was very helpful in making sure the payments we made towards the event went smoothly. However…on the day of the event…the floors were not cleaned…the back patio had trashcans everywhere…the tables were not set up correctly..im thankful my family and friends were able to fix all that. But I expect to see a venue of this caliber to make sure their rooms are in tip top shape ready for the next event. We definitely cleaned it and put everything away even better than it was presented to us. Overall however the event came together nicely and I know in the future the venue will most likely better their system when it comes to preparing for big events.

We held our wedding reception here a few days ago on January 3rd & I cannot say enough about how amazing the management for this hall is. They take the time to sit down and organize everything from the beginning to the end of your event. We also had a lot of questions along the way and they were always quick to respond to us. The inside of the hall is also gorgeous aswell and the draping adds a nice touch of elegance that I haven’t seen before. I would highly recommend golden palace to anyone that is holding an event in Fresno!

I am leaving 5 stars because the venue did a great job of executing my vision. I was pleased initially with the fact that all aspects of the event can be catered too in house. At times, I felt unsure but the team showed great confidence and the event went out without a hitch. There were many aspects that I felt pushed the boundaries, but the team was accommodating when all was said and done!

Frequently asked questions about event venues in California

What factors should I consider when choosing a venue in California?

Selecting an event venue in California involves considering numerous factors, starting with the scale of the event. A small corporate gathering will have vastly different needs than a large wedding. Location is paramount – proximity to attendees, accessibility via public transport, and parking availability are crucial. Budget, of course, plays a significant role, encompassing rental fees, catering costs, and potential setup expenses. Don’t overlook the venue’s amenities – does it offer adequate power supply, restroom facilities, and temperature control? Finally, consider the venue’s overall aesthetic and whether it aligns with the desired tone and feel of your event.

How much do event venues typically cost in California?

Event venue costs in California vary dramatically depending on a multitude of factors. Generally, you can expect to pay anywhere from a few hundred dollars for a small, basic space to upwards of tens of thousands of dollars for a luxurious estate. Prices are often influenced by the location – venues in major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles or San Francisco tend to be considerably more expensive than those in more rural regions. Seasonal demand also impacts pricing; events during peak seasons, such as summer and holidays, will command higher fees. Negotiation is often possible, especially for off-peak dates or longer rental periods.

What type of event venues are available in California?

California offers a diverse range of event venues. You’ll find classic ballrooms and hotel meeting rooms suitable for corporate events and conferences. For weddings, options include stunning vineyards, beachfront estates, rustic ranches, and historic mansions. Outdoor venues, such as botanical gardens and parks, are popular for festivals and community gatherings. Specialized venues, like art galleries, breweries, and even converted warehouses, cater to niche events and offer unique experiences. The key is to identify the type of event and then explore the available options.

What are the legal requirements for holding an event at a venue in California?

Holding an event at a venue in California involves navigating several legal requirements. This includes obtaining any necessary permits or licenses, which vary depending on the type of event and its location. Noise ordinances must be adhered to, particularly for outdoor events. Liability insurance is almost always required to protect the venue and its guests. You’ll also need to consider alcohol regulations if alcohol will be served, which often necessitate a liquor license and responsible beverage service training for staff. It's crucial to consult with the venue and potentially an attorney to ensure full compliance.

How do I book an event venue in California?

Booking an event venue in California typically begins with researching potential venues that align with your event’s needs and budget. Once you've identified a few options, schedule site visits to assess the space firsthand. Request a detailed contract outlining all terms and conditions, including rental fees, payment schedules, cancellation policies, and liability clauses. Carefully review the contract with an attorney if necessary. Secure the venue with a signed agreement and a deposit to confirm your booking. Maintain clear communication with the venue throughout the planning process.

What amenities should I expect from a California event venue?

The amenities offered by a California event venue can significantly impact the overall success of your event. Reliable Wi-Fi connectivity is increasingly expected, particularly for corporate gatherings. Adequate power outlets are essential for audio-visual equipment. Comfortable seating arrangements are crucial for guest satisfaction. Many venues provide on-site catering services or have established relationships with preferred caterers. Consider whether the venue offers tables and chairs, linens, and other decorative items. Don’t forget about climate control – heating and air conditioning are often vital, particularly in California’s diverse climate.

What are some popular event venues in California?

California boasts a wealth of popular event venues. The Getty Center in Los Angeles offers breathtaking views and a stunning architectural setting. The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach is a classic beachfront venue. Numerous vineyards throughout Napa and Sonoma Valley provide idyllic settings for weddings and corporate events. The Santa Barbara County Courthouse is a historic landmark ideal for formal occasions. Smaller venues, such as art galleries in San Francisco and breweries in San Diego, offer unique and intimate spaces. Researching local venues based on your event type is highly recommended.

How do I plan the logistics of an event at a California venue?

Planning the logistics of an event at a California venue requires meticulous attention to detail. Develop a comprehensive event timeline, outlining all key tasks and deadlines. Coordinate with the venue on setup and breakdown schedules. Arrange for transportation for attendees, considering parking limitations and public transport options. Plan for catering needs, including menu selection, dietary restrictions, and service staff. Consider restroom facilities and ensure adequate staffing to maintain cleanliness. A detailed event checklist is invaluable for staying organized.

What are the potential risks associated with holding an event at a California venue?

Holding an event at a California venue carries potential risks that should be carefully considered. Weather conditions can be unpredictable, particularly during the rainy season. Liability concerns arise from potential accidents or injuries. Permitting issues can cause delays or cancellations. Security risks, such as theft or vandalism, should be addressed with appropriate security measures. Insurance coverage is essential to mitigate financial losses. A thorough risk assessment and proactive planning are crucial for minimizing potential problems.

How can I negotiate the price of an event venue in California?

Negotiating the price of an event venue in California is often possible, especially during off-peak seasons or for longer rental periods. Research comparable venues to establish a benchmark price. Highlight any value-added services you require, such as catering or audiovisual equipment, to leverage a discount. Be prepared to compromise on certain terms and conditions. Clearly communicate your budget constraints to the venue owner or event coordinator. Consider offering a deposit to demonstrate your commitment and potentially secure a lower rate. Always obtain a written agreement confirming any negotiated terms.
