We Had our cat neutered at Bear Valley Animal Hospital. They did a very good job. Everyone was professional and friendly. It was a very long day for us, and our cat for sure. We were told to be there at 7:00 a.m. . We were the very first one in the door, the very first one to sign in, and had the very first appointment scheduled. I understand they are very busy and obviously do not do the surgeries in order of the appointments. We were told that someone would call us after the surgery by 1:00 and let us know how things went. No one ever called, so I finally called at 2:00. and I spent over 20 minutes on hold trying to get some information . We finally drove down there at 3:00 to try and pick him up. The place was packed, and everyone that had much later appointments we're apparently already notified and were there for pickup long ahead of us. It took us another 2 hours to get him out of there. We were about the very last ones out the door after over 10 hours. Have they notified us when the surgery was as we were told, undoubtedly we would have been out of there much earlier. Communication is definitely a problem here, but we are just glad the day is over.
First time coming here and it will definitely be our last! The wait time is absolutely ridiculous 2 hr wait for shots and a health check! The vet was nice and great until it was time for shots the nurse definitely had no patience for our poor boy, she was trying to give him the mouth medicine first instead of leaving that one for last, then she felt like he wasn’t letting her administer the medicine and didn’t even ask us if we want to give it to him ! Instead she says she’s taking him to a treatment room why ? Not sure! Why did he come back with a random rope around him and she said it was because he was getting of his harness?! That was completely unnecessary to us! We didn’t see him getting his shots and he came back all scared 😟 We feel more effort could be done when administrating shots, pawrents can definitely give a hand if needed! No need to take our poor baby to a treatment room. The price was the same as any other vet, we went there for the reviews on prices and turns out not much of a difference! $154 for shots and office visit! Definitely price is not that great! Would not come back for any of our doggo babies!
I always get anxious about taking my pets to places in the High Desert because there is always mixed reviews. But my mom suggested we come to Bear Valley Animal Hospital and I’m glad we did. Everyone was very kind at the front desk. They were always making sure we were doing okay while waiting and even asked if I wanted water. It didn’t take too long to be seen in the back with my baby boy either. They examined him and suggested some tests we could run for him since he wasn’t feeling like himself lately. All his tests came back healthy but I let him get fluids while he was in the back in case he was dehydrated. Brought him home and needless to say he’s back to his old self the next day. I definitely will be coming back here to get support for him and my other fur babies. Thank you to all the staff there for showing me compassion. Dr Laura McGowan and her staff were wonderful.
Got a voucher for spay through the Lange foundation which was only supposed to cost $50. They charged me $50 and after waiting half and hour they come out say my animal is in heat and charge me again. They say if your animal is in heat they charge $104 extra which they provide no proof at all that your animal is currently in heat despite the fact they show no signs. Would be zero stars if I could. Do not come here with your animals.
I’m gonna start with cleanliness and this veterinarian hospital is not. There’s dog hair everywhere I get. It’s a vet however, a movie theater doesn’t have popcorn all over the floor. There’s hair everywhere. It was disgusting. The veterinarian was passive aggressive. She told me I needed to get a DNA test done on my dog and she hopes I didn’t pay a lot of money for it. All I could think was none of that matters to me. I just wanted to make sure my pup was healthy and if there’s any issues I needed to address I will be able to do that in a Timely manner. Then she went on to say if I didn’t have a contract there’s nothing I could do about it. As if I was going to take the dog back, I’m not a breeder so once again me thinking why does any of that matter. DO NOT GO HERE, it was one of my worst experiences.
Highly recommend Bear valley Animal Hospital 💕 Staff is soo nice, Dr did so good with my Nala. She went in with a pyometra condition at 9 years old & he saved her life. I couldn’t thank this place enough, especially Angelina for guiding me thru it all. I’m so so thankful for this Hospital, if you need your little/big doggies ever checked out or immediate help don’t hesitate to take them here! 😊
Came for a second opinion and quote. My usual vet quoted me almost $900 to remove a fox tail from my dogs ear. Bear valley animal hospital did it for half the price. I could tell by her demeanor and some of the things she did (like tell me what she saw and why we would need to sedate her) that Dr. McGowan went into this business bc she genuinely cares... and not for the $. Rare find. I didn't consider the other vet to want to shake me down but after seeing this one, I'm coming to that conclusion. If you're in town for a vet, these guys are honest, will try the simplest/cheapest routes b4 reaching into your wallet. The other place charges a cheaper exam price but they'll get you afterward. I'm so happy I found this place and saved $400. The staff was friendly, the only thing was the wait to pick up my girl after the procedure... it took about 20-30 minutes... but not the 2.5 hrs that someone else had to wait, so definitely an improvement!
