We just had a very good dinner at The Fish Market, but the highlight was our server Jorge. Super knowledgeable and polite, kind, attentive, the kind of waiter you want when you go for dinner anywhere but almost never get. We also got to sit outside with an incredible view. We thought the food prices were fair, not extortionary, especially considering the location and how nice the restaurant was inside and out. Great food, freaking incredible service, and an awesome view. 👌
The Fish Market is not the place you go for a plate decorated with three edible flowers and a mysterious foam that requires a glossary. You come here for fresh seafood, honest cooking, hearty portions, and a beautiful harbor view. I started with the Maryland-style crab cakes with house Cajun remoulade, and they were very tasty: juicy, flavorful, filling, and thankfully more crab cake than breadcrumb-based identity crisis. For the main course, I had the wild day boat sea scallops with fried green beans and coleslaw. The scallops were super fresh, generously portioned, and worked really well with the crunchy green beans and creamy-crisp slaw. Simple and balanced. For dessert, I had the key lime pie. It was rich and enjoyable, though my only small complaint is that it leaned a bit too heavily on condensed milk. Still, a pleasant finish to a very satisfying meal.
One of the best (affordable) waterfront meals I’ve ever had. We asked to sit outside and ended up sitting right on the edge of the water with an insane view of the bay! Our server was very kind and helpful. We ordered the fish tacos and the poke bowl. The tacos were full of flavor with big pieces of fresh-tasting fish. Also the French fries were notably tasty. The poke bowl was perfect too. No notes! We left very full and content and enjoyed a walk on the waterfront afterwards. Side note - happy hour only applies to those seated at the bar! You can find some really good deals there. Highly recommend stopping by the Fish Market for some delicious seafood and amazing views!
Dining at The Fish Market in San Diego was an unforgettable experience. Nestled along the beautiful waterfront, the restaurant offers breathtaking harbor views that create the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The food was absolutely outstanding. Our table enjoyed several incredible dishes, including the flavorful Curry Shrimp and Chicken, the perfectly prepared Salmon with Pink Peppercorn, and the Crunchy Octopus. Each dish was beautifully presented, expertly prepared, and packed with fresh, delicious flavors. What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service provided by our server, Noemy V. She was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect. Her professionalism, warm personality, and attention to detail made us feel welcomed from start to finish. Noemy V is truly a five-star server and a shining example of outstanding customer service. If you’re looking for amazing seafood, spectacular waterfront views, and top-notch hospitality, The Fish Market in San Diego is a must-visit destination. Between the wonderful food and the exceptional service from Noemy V, this was a dining experience we will remember for a long time. #WhoisCoachCarter
Had an amazing experience at The Fish Market on the San Diego waterfront. The location alone is worth the visit — sitting right on the harbor with views of the boats, the bay, and the nearby USS Midway makes it feel like a classic Southern California experience. The atmosphere was lively but still relaxing, especially around sunset. The seafood tasted incredibly fresh. The clam chowder was rich and flavorful, the grilled fish was perfectly cooked, and the cioppino was packed with seafood. Portions were generous and the menu had plenty of options whether you want sushi, oysters, or a full seafood dinner. Service was friendly and moved surprisingly fast considering how busy the restaurant gets. Prices were actually fair for a waterfront seafood restaurant in such a prime tourist area. You’re definitely paying for quality and location, but it didn’t feel overpriced compared to many other harbor restaurants. One of the best parts is how close it is to so many San Diego attractions. After dinner, it’s easy to walk along the Embarcadero, visit Seaport Village, check out the USS Midway Museum, or just enjoy the harbor views. It’s the kind of place that feels like part restaurant, part San Diego attraction itself. If you’re visiting San Diego and want great seafood with beautiful scenery and classic waterfront vibes, The Fish Market - San Diego is absolutely worth a stop.
Absolutely loved it. We got oysters Rockefeller, steamed clams and mussels, artichoke dip and then pasta dishes. One salmon one shrimp and both were great, but we forgot to take a picture. Espresso martini and then I forgot what the other one was, but it was one of the specials on the menu. Everything was delicious and the service was also great.
Unexpectedly great! Great restaurant and fish market ( lower level) . The food was way better than expected. We went after touring the Midway and just wanted to sit and eat and thought this might be a tourist trap. We were soooo wrong. Decent prices and food was great. We had the Fish and Chips and NE Clam Chowder as well as swordfish tacos and one person got a burger which he says was really good. Friendly and attentive staff. Parking is limited as is most of the area.
