I went with two other people and it was my favorite restaurant experience over a 4 day trip to San Diego. The drinks, food, vibe, and service were all excellent. Our favorite dish was the Calabrian Chili Shrimp followed by the Charred Octopus. They were both incredible. Whenever I can get back to San Diego, this may be a must visit for me again!

Great place and atmosphere for some local seafood! The vibe in here is great, from the furniture to the food and drinks. Located in Little Italy, it has a great busy atmosphere. We ordered oysters Rockefeller, raw oysters, fresh uni, grouper and shishito peppers. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The service was good, the waiter never really came back to check on us towards the end. Would love to come back to try other items!

Went for happy hour with my wife and spent $150. The oysters were really good and a great value and the chowder fries were good as well (we ordered two! though the second one was much bigger than the first one). The happy hour cocktail was laughably small, so I opted for a glass of wine for the second one and it looked about 3.5 ounces. However, the real issue is the service is just disgusting. The server couldnt get us out of there fast enough, literally looked my wife up and down like in the movies, didn’t bring the sauces for the oysters like the 4 tables next to us, and kept trying to take our plates while food was still on it. Just to be clear, I’m a fast eater. And I had to say no like 3x when there was literally still shrimp on the plates. The actual food was good enough, the value was only with the oysters, but we will never go back because the server (and to be fair the bus boys as well).

We stopped by Ironside Fish & Oyster for lunch today, and everything was outstanding. We ordered the lobster roll, clams, and oysters, and every dish was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The lobster roll was probably the best I’ve had in the area. I’m usually not a big oyster fan, but I decided to give them another try, and they were absolutely perfect. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. The service was fast, smooth, and really made the whole experience enjoyable. Overall, a 10/10 experience. Great food, great service, and definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience at Ironside. We started with the oysters, which were fresh and flavorful, and the lobster roll was excellent with lobster and perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed a few drinks that were well made and complemented the meal nicely. The service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. If you’re looking for great seafood, quality cocktails, and top-notch service, Ironside is definitely worth a visit.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 – Ironside Fish & Oyster Ironside Fish & Oyster was absolutely outstanding and worth every visit. The seafood was incredibly fresh, expertly prepared, and full of flavor. From the oysters to the fish dishes, everything was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The restaurant offers a lively yet welcoming atmosphere with stylish nautical décor that adds to the dining experience. The service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making the meal even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for exceptional seafood in San Diego, Ironside Fish & Oyster is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning on my next trip.

The food was absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was the best I’ve had and the oysters were nice and fresh and so were the other dishes. However what takes the cherry on the cake were the banana pudding and it was to die for. Easily best banana pudding I’ve had and our server was kind and nice enough to do our table side banana pudding. We sat outside which was still pretty relaxing and chill. I would definitely come back here to try more things! The Empire Approves.

Good lunch spot attached to a dead mall. This is def one of the few remaining worth visiting places at the West Co mall. Lunch service was excellent and our meals were served fast. I would suggest to skip the seared tuna salad if you want another salad. My family ordered off the lunch menu and the food was much tastier. They also have a good happy hr.

Customer service and flavor is what makes this place shine. Everyone from the hosts, server, and manager were warm and welcoming. You can really feel the positive synergy between the workers too. All the food is delicious and has its own slight twist to it. We will definitely come back.

I am writing this email to recognize and give thanks to my server Taelor. She gave me my fiancé, exceptional, Customer Serrvice. She recommended great entree dishes for us to eat and drink. My fiancé and I had not been to this restaurant in years, so it was refreshing to get a server who is knowledgeable and kind and helping us to have a great experience which we did. Definitely will be coming back and I am really glad I had the bison burger. My fiancé had the pot pie, which was also really good.

World Cup game day/time 6:30pm for an ex co-worker’s birthday+retirement party for about 20+ people. Food was okay, i ordered ribs & fries -> rib way tooo sweet, fries great. Grilled ahi tuna salad was okay but a bit fishy. But may be it was a good day that Mexico won by 3:0, crowds cheerful, from my observation, no one on our long table got drinks refilled, including me & my wife, even thought we asked for it – to 2 different waiter/waitress for coke zero & lemonade. May be they thought they would get mandatory group 20% tips already. Or simply overwhelmed that day. May be its not Dogs that were LAZY. ..lol…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had such a great experience at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar! Steven was our server and he was very knowledgeable and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Service was fast from start to finish. They had a spritzer special — 3 for $25, which was totally worth it and such a good deal. My favorite dish was the honey feta dip (so good, I’d come back just for that). Drinks were great, the food was good quality and a great value, and I loved that they’re dog-friendly — they even have food for dogs! The patio was warm and comfortable too. Great vibes all around. Definitely coming back 🐶🍹

We recently hosted my birthday at the Claremont Resort and the experience was excellent. The staff attending our party was very attentive and their service was top notch. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the food provided at our party. Everything was delicious and interesting. Even the vegetarian dishes were very tasty. The team addressed all of our request and the party turned out great. The one request I would make would be to provide more late night opportunities for the guests after the party ended. Our guests didn’t want the fun to end.

Rooms are very spacious. Well stocked with essentials, and come with robes and slippers when requested. Quiet at evening and temperature control both in living space and in bedroom. Service was hit or miss. The events team and concierge was excellent. I couldn’t ask for more attentive and went beyond their way. Always ready to assist and very attentive. Glad to work with the team. Room cleaning staff however was definitely a miss. I had a dessert plate left in my room for 4 days. Room would be cleaned except for the dirty plate. It wasn’t consistent and it was good one day and left me wondering why the next day. Location was great, and there was plenty to do but sadly its left with tennis, pickleball or swimming only. Theres no other sports that one can play. Which was sad since they have plenty of space.

This review is for the spa – I’ve been getting facials and massages for over 20 years, and I can honestly say that Myrine and Jamie are among the very best practitioners I’ve ever experienced. This was my second Hydrafacial with Myrine, and she is simply exceptional. She is hands down the best esthetician I’ve ever been to. Of all the facials I’ve had over the years, she is the most thorough, detailed, caring, and attentive. She never feels rushed and is incredibly intentional in everything she does. You can tell she genuinely cares about her clients and takes great pride in her work. She consistently goes above and beyond, not because she has to, but because that’s who she is. What makes her even more remarkable is that the results match the experience. My skin looked noticeably better immediately after the treatment. It was brighter, healthier, more hydrated, and had a glow that I don’t typically see after most facials. Even more importantly, it felt amazing. The difference was obvious, and it’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to her. Her level of care, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering exceptional results is truly rare. Jamie gave me a deep tissue massage, and it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I’ve received countless massages over the years, and what impressed me most was his skill, intuition, and unique approach. He wasn’t simply following a routine. The massage felt thoughtful, personalized, and incredibly effective. I left feeling better than I had in a long time. I’ve also been coming to the Claremont for nearly two decades, and one thing that has always stood out is the staff. Everyone is consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. It’s rare these days to find a place where so many team members stay for years, but seeing familiar faces over time says a lot about the culture and the people who work there. The level of hospitality throughout the property is truly exceptional. I walked out of the Claremont feeling like I had experienced two of the absolute best professionals in their field. Between the outstanding service from Myrine and Jamie and the consistently wonderful staff throughout the property, this was one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend them highly enough.I’ve been getting facials and massages for over 20 years, and I can honestly say that Myrine and Jamie are among the very best practitioners I’ve ever experienced.

Got here around 5:00pm. We got seated right away. Got our drinks and food right away. The server was very cheerful. We ordered: Alaskan Salmon with rice – flavorful salmon. Chicken Alfredo – very creamy sauce Fish and Chips – fish was fresh, crunchy, and not greasy. Hawaiian Kabobs- cooked perfect Jambalaya Pasta – right amount of spice. Gateway Burger – the burger was thick and juicy, and cooked to perfection. Best Western Burger with fries – burger was juicy and the onion rings gave a nice crunch. OG Philly Dip – good tasting meat with au jus. Vanilla Ice cream for dessert This restaurant is a good choice when you’re in Oakhurst. It’s located next to Best Western Hotel. It’s about 5 minutes walk from Hampton Inn and Marriott Hotel. Highly recommend!

Didn’t expect to eat this well near Yosemite, but here we are 😌 The view? Low-key the main character 🌄 Small town + sunset + colorful clouds all in one frame. Inside’s filled with oil paintings 🎨—kind of cool seeing nature twice, once outside, once through an artist’s eyes. Food hits 🍽️, prices don’t hurt, and the space is big and quiet—perfect for swapping trip stories and just vibing ✨ Good food, good view, good mood. Would come back 👍

Food came out quickly and was good. We had a little wait for a table but it was worth it. Got a table with a nice view. Had an old cabin woodsy vibe. We got the chicken and beet salad, Chicken Alfredo, artichoke dip, California sandwich and Cesar salad. I personally loved the beet and chicken salad it was a large portion and full of flavor. I would recommend this place and would eat here again if ever in the area.

We came from Houston for our honeymoon, checked in, and walked to this restaurant and omg… just wow. The food was SO good. Like actually delicious. Everything we tried was amazing. And honestly, the price?? They could easily charge way more for the quality and service they give. The view was absolutely beautiful too. Just made everything even better. We ended up eating here two days in a row. Tried 4 different dishes and couldn’t get enough. So sad we’re heading back to Houston, but this place definitely has a spot in my heart now. We’ll be back for sure.

Vesuvio Cafe is an absolute gem in North Beach and one of those places that instantly makes you feel connected to the history and character of San Francisco. The moment you walk in, you can feel the stories the place holds and start wondering about all the people who have spent nights there over the decades and the kind of memories they created. The cocktails are very reasonably priced, especially considering the location and atmosphere, and the selection is huge — enough to satisfy even the most dedicated cocktail enthusiasts. The vibe is what truly makes this place special: creative, energetic, slightly chaotic in the best possible way, and full of positive-minded people. It can definitely get crowded, but that only adds to the atmosphere rather than taking away from it. A fantastic spot to experience the soul of North Beach and old-school San Francisco nightlife.

This place turned out to be one of my favorite places to visit, I first found it from hearing music playing and i had to find out where it was coming from. They had a live band outside in the ally and there was a crowd. loved the band I think it was a ska bank from LA area. I also went back a few days later just to get a drink and check out the inside and its a place you will want to visit and say awhile, also check out the ally there is seating there also and the and painted mural on the walls. Bartenders are very kewl and the drinks were quick, all the staff here are awesome. give it a stop by and check it out.

Vesuvio is noted as being one of Kerouac’s favorite bars amongst many other famous writers, musicians and artists. It’s like walking into a little slice of history. It is somewhat touristy, but the locals are still alive and well in this atmosphere. If you are a young yuppie, just please remember to tip the staff well – I saw multiple people mistreat these hard working bar tenders after they served up a slew of complicated cocktails.

One of the finest non-cafes I’ve been to for a drink. I did not drink coffee. I also did not smoke weed, like cafes in Amsterdam, that, for legal and reputational reasons, I definitely have never been to. They in fact served me a delicious cocktai,l that I did not need, having been on a tour of the city and tasted some of the finest… Atmospheres. .. in each bar. I recommend you visit and play cards in the corner. For fun not money.

Fun Tiki bar but a little pricey when they have live entertainment $20 a head to sit at a table. Drink menu for Tiki themed cocktails a bit limited Recommend reservation. We put our name in for a table and never got call back. Worth a visit if you are into Tiki bars but there are a lot better Tiki bars out there.

This place is just so cool and an experience! Was so fun to come too, place was packed, wicked vibe with live music, dancing, water raining from the ceiling into the lake. Cocktails are awesome, we had 4 different ones, all were very well made as were the appetizers and the brûlée banana split. So much fun to go and check out!

Nice restaurant all around but if you are looking for authentic Tongan culture and food this is not the place. But if you are just looking for a fun time, good food, drinks, and live entertainment in a tiki lounge kind of atmosphere this is definitely the place! This is a great spot for date night.

I’m sad to say I came here to visit for the first time during my birthday weekend and had a not so good experience I feel it was pretty over priced before we entered the Tonga room my sister and I were told that it was a $20 fee to stand or be seated by the water another $20 fee because a live band was playing even if we weren’t watching the band perform another $20 fee to order food on top of purchasing food as well we stood at the bar ordered 2 cocktails that totaled up to $60 in my opinion that’s pretty pricey for only 2 cocktails the bar tender was a little rude along with the people in the atmosphere I’ve been wanting to visit for years I traveled all the way from Vallejo & regretted going immediately! I most likely will not be back the place is over hyped.

Celebrated my husband’s 44th birthday there. Hostess sat us right by the pool next to the band on the boat. Atmosphere is great, transformed us to the islands with great tiki cocktails. Food was just mediocre. We ordered the pupu platter appetizer: short ribs were super thin (maybe 1/8th of an inch) 6 pieces total. The calamari was greasy, but the aioli was good, tangy and cuts the heaviness. The plantain chips were thin and drowning in its own sauce. The most tasty were the pork bites. For entree we had the seafood curry and the kalua pork. Seafood was cooked very well, not overcooked. There were shrimps, prawns, scallops and calamari. However the curry was so light and thin, you can barely taste it. If I didn’t know it was a curry, I would’ve thought it’s just a stir fry. The kalua pork was plentiful however it tasted more like pulled pork. There was a scoop of white rice and a scoop of Mac salad. Mac salad was under seasoned. Overall disappointing meal especially for a 4 or 5 start hotel. Cocktails were strong but delicious. Our waiter was very attentive. The part that made this experience great was the band. Excellent music, great voices and just s fun group.

As a Polish family traveling on vacation, we drove across California and had the chance to try many different American restaurants. Without a doubt, South Gate in Oakhurst was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. We started with their house-made craft IPA (7.2% ABV), and it was outstanding—rich, flavorful, and one of the best beers we enjoyed during our entire journey. For our children, we ordered the pasta with cheese sauce, and it was simply incredible. Our son is usually a very picky eater and rarely finishes his meals, but he loved it so much that he ate two full portions of chicken nuggets! The Burger of the Day was perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The shrimp tacos were absolutely phenomenal—fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The day before, we also tried their stone-fired pizza, and it was another excellent meal that we would highly recommend. Every single dish we tasted was exceptional. The food, the quality, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. If you’re on your way to Yosemite National Park, do yourself a favor and stop at South Gate in Oakhurst. It’s a place you simply shouldn’t miss. Highly recommended!

Staying in Oakhurst for the week while exploring Yosemite, and was recommended this place. The food was outstanding, our waitress was very kind and took good care of us. I can’t recommend this place enough they had a great variety of meal options, even gluten free options as well. And everything is home made! Even better. Thank you!

We enjoyed a great dinner here on our first night at Oakhurst. We came around 6 on a Saturday and had about a 20 minute wait. We grabbed some beers from their patio area and played connect 4 while we waited so it didnt feel long at all. Enjoyed all the drinks and food. We tried: – pretzel w/ beer cheese – chicken wings – poutine – Cobb salad – french dip – fried chicken – fish tacos – 2 different burgers Everything was tasty but I think I liked all the apps the best. The pretzels might have been my fave.

We had a great late lunch here today. We sat at the bar and were well taken care of by the bartender, I wish I had gotten his name. We had a cold rush, IPA, which were very good. The bartender awesomely gave us sample samples of each of the IPAs on the menu. We had the brussels sprouts as an appetizer, they were they were decent three out of five stars. They weren’t as crispy as we like, and they were on the dry side. I had the hamburger without a bun cooked to order and it was delicious. My husband had the smash burger with french fries and it was very good. We highly recommend this brewing company for both beer, food, and excellent service. Our only critique is to turn the music down a bit. Particularly for guest sitting outside it would make conversation challenging.

I am visiting from Texas and wanted to try somewhere local while visiting Yosemite. The reviews and pictures at this place looked good and it was very close to our hotel. We called in for a reservation and showed up right at our time slot and was promptly seated. Our server was Dillan and he was a very cool dude. We ordered beer (sorry it wasn’t for me so I don’t know what it was but I was told that it was good and it tasted strong lol) and root beer for a drink. I did not like the root beer at all. It tasted like licorice toothpaste or spending. I just didn’t like it. And also the beer battered artichokes, 16oz smoked steak and stuffed chicken breast. Root beer 1/10 Artichokes 4/10; lacked flavor, very greasy and kind of made me feel sick after bc I can’t eat stuff that’s high in fat or oils so that’s my bad. But overall I didn’t like the flavor. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good Steak 7.5/10. Very salty but not in a bad way. Asparagus was flavorful but oily and the potatoes were crispy but lacked flavor. 7/10 for asparagus and 5/10 for potatoes Chicken 9/10. Very very good Service was excellent. I give Dillan a 10! Vibe was chill and everyone was nice! I’m glad I got to try it

The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was clean, fun, and friendly. They had good music playing (90s pop rock), and a lot of the people eating there seemed to be regulars who knew the staff well. I have to eat gluten free, and the Stuffed Chicken Roulade is both gluten free and amazing! The house-made root beer is great too, although it’s expensive for a small glass of soda ($5.50 per glass). Our waiter brought our food and then disappeared for 45 minutes, but another waitress helped us when we were ready to go. Other than that, it was a great experience and we look forward to going back again soon.

We tried every single beer and not one of them disappointed. The pecan pie brown beer and the pale ale stood out for us. We came every night after hiking around Yosemite. Rare to find a place with amazing beer AND food. Everything we tried was delicious. On top of that, great waiters. We’ll for sure make a trip back.

Went here for lunch and a nice view of the lake. View delivered! Food was a lot, portions are huge! By the time we finished our appetizer, we did not have much room for our mains. The poke nachos are a must have. I would not eat the pineapple chicken thing again, it tasted very weird. Food is pretty average overall Our servers were very nice and the lake view definitely was majestic. If you can get a seat on the balcony, definitely do that.

This place was great. We came here after kayaking on bass lake. The view (pictured) is great – I definitely recommend eating outside if you can. The service was friendly and attentive. I got the apple salad (forgot the name) with chicken added and it was fresh and flavorful. My girlfriend got the teriyaki chicken bowl and she said it was just OK, so I’d recommend sticking with the more American options. Also got garlic fries which I liked a lot but my girlfriend said were too heavy. Only recommendation would be to make a reservation if you can. We came here in the low season in march and it still took 35 minutes for a table for two. Have to imagine it’s 1-2 hour wait in summer.

No, that’s literally an incredible place with an amazing view. I was chilling while I was observing the bath lake and eating the very, very tasty food, and the service was really nice. It looks like the waiters are really professionals who are working in this area for lots of years. I really like that the atmosphere is all old times, so I can imagine the time like in the 1999 visiting this place. For sure, it’s cool

We had the chicken fried steak and eggs, and the sierra eggs Benedict. Both delicious and fresh, but the chicken fried steak was in the salty side and the eggs Benedict was lacking a little hollendaise sauce (we asked for more, and it was provided free of charge). Connie was our waitress, and she was super helpful and kind! We had an excellent view of the lake!

I’ve been wanting to check out the Pines Resort in Bass Lake for a while, so we stopped here yesterday to grab a bite before heading to Yosemite. The atmosphere was super festive, they’re already fully decked out for Christmas and it definitely put us in a cozy holiday mood. We arrived around 1:30 PM hoping to dine at Ducey’s on the Lake since they have more food options, but were disappointed to learn they don’t open until 4 PM. If you’re heading here with the same plan, definitely double-check their business hours. Thankfully, Ducey’s Bar & Grill is located just upstairs and still offers that gorgeous Bass Lake view. We grabbed seats at the bar, and Andrea was our bartender/server. She was friendly, personable, and took great care of us. Their menu is a step above your typical bar food. Here’s what we ordered: Bang Bang Shrimp – This came out heavily battered, deep fried, and extremely salty. Not what we were expecting for a Bang Bang Shrimp dish. Ahi Tuna Bowl – My order, and it was just okay. The mango salsa was good and paired nicely with the tuna. Fish + Fries – My boyfriend chose the cod and enjoyed his dish. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience. We walked past the chalets afterward and thought it would be fun to stay in one someday. Definitely another reason to come back.

Loved our dinner on the second floor patio! The portions are insane! Is it weird to say I could have actually done with a bit less walnuts and cranberries on my salad? The extra charge for the garlic fry upgrade was worth it and the sweet potato fries with garlic aioli were so primo! Very friendly attentive staff as well. Kudos to Justin (I think?-oops)

We went there about 530 on a Friday and it was hopping already. The ambience is fine in there, maybe a bit loud. The waiter was very nice. The chips they serve you with the salsa were some of the best I have ever had.I had the enchiladas mineras, which the waiter recommended highly. It was very good but a little bit too pricey for what I got. My wife got spies and they were fine. It was definitely above average Mexican food, but if I go back again, I will order something less pricey.

Hidden in the shopping center next to dollar tree. The place was packed. The hotel staff recommended us to go there for mexican food. We ordered the enchiladas and thin steaks. Enough to share for two people. I had the «gin on still» it was light and not too sweet.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a family of four visiting from New Jersey with two boys, we weren’t sure what to expect, but Plazuelas Mexican Restaurant absolutely exceeded our expectations. The food tasted incredibly authentic and was some of the best Mexican food we’ve had. The fish tacos were fresh and packed with flavor, the shrimp taco was outstanding, and the burrito was excellent. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were phenomenal—we couldn’t stop eating them while waiting for our meal. What really completed the experience was the service. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. If you’re in the area and looking for authentic Mexican food with amazing flavors and outstanding service, don’t hesitate to stop here. We would absolutely come back on our next trip!

I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by 3 ribeye tacos but I was. The service was so welcoming from the staff and the rib eye tacos were delicious. I actually needed up just taking them out of the shells and eating them as a bowl. A delicious stop after a long day of travel and hiking.

This place was fantastic. From the bar tender to the waiters, staff and Food. As soon as I entered I felt refreshed. The music took me back to great memories. Lets talk food, I ordered mole and it was fantastic and authentic for the region.( There are many varieties so don’t hate). I was pleased my food didn’t have cheese or sour cream on it. (Shredded Cheese on Mexican food is a big sign the food is not going to be great and definitely not authentic). My husband ordered fish tacos and the flavor was delicious.he would order again. Ohhhj, the drinks!!! The Oaxacan cocktails are off the chain and you must order one! I got the Bracero… highly recommend it. I say, if there was a negative, it is that they only had 1 salsa and it was very liquidy. No spicy salsa according to the waiter.

I just visited Plazuelas and was blown away by the entire experience. It’s rare to find a spot that hits the trifecta of food, service, and atmosphere so perfectly. The food was so flavorful! We got the pollo mole and enchiladas mineras. I definitely recommend both dishes. We look forward to trying other dishes next time. The staff made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and gave us excellent recommendations for both drinks and food. Thank you! See you all soon!

I decided to go out with my husband and choose this place. I’ve been here before but this time the experience was so bad and poor customer service. I ordered an Alfredo pasta with chicken, wow! There was tons of salt on it. On the other hand, the waitress never checked on us, unless I called her, she saw like 3 dirty dishes I put on the edge of the table and called her twice to tell her another thing, but she never proactively took them out of our table, until I literally asked her to take them. Not good experience. Work on that because the place has good environment!. So dissapointed.

Poor service on this trip. Sat for 45 mins before food arrived. The bourbon chicken was thin and hard to chew. Didn’t want to wait another 45 mins to get it redone. Waiter did not check on us or get us water.

Christine was a very nice and attentive server. She was funny and a a good people person. She recommended the California salad and it was just what I wanted. The manager Bill came around too to make sure we were being well taken care of. This was the first time my father in law had been out in over 3 months, due to illness. Christine had us all laughing and having a good time and we lost track of time. All in all, great service, good food and a good experience.

We dined here on 06/17/26. I must say, I was hesitant at first due to past experiences. However, our waitress MaKenzie was amazing. She was super nice and attentive to all of our needs. The food was really good, so thumbs up to the cooks. The manager, Isabel even came out to check in to see if we were enjoying our dining experience. Over all experience was really positive. We will be back.

I liked the food. I liked how my son got a free dessert for his birthday. Thank you. However the service : Dear God. .. the worst. Took 27 minutes to get greeted a lady at first she was in training, next to a man, gor drinks and appetizer trio. All good. ..45 minutes later the man who was training the lady said «yall okay here» I said «yes we are waiting to give our order» he is so «shocked» took our food order, and we waited again , I don’t mind waiting at this point because really we went out to eat so I didn’t have to cook and Chilis was our first option, my Son wanted it for his bday, Chilis was closing already. Really im so happy we got that appetizer trio, we were hungry, I had just got off work. personally I don’t want to make accusations, based on my experience that night, my interaction with him, something was not okay with the server , it was the oddest night out. I won’t ever be going back based on the service. I find it odd to go spend money and time that way. Time is valuable, and Applebee’s you don’t deserve mine. Please look into the situation. I’m not telling you guys not to go, go, the food tasted good. I enjoyed it.

Frequently asked questions about bars in California

What does it mean to be a licensed bartender in California?

Becoming a licensed bartender in California involves a rigorous process overseen by the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agency. It’s not simply about serving drinks; it requires completing a state-approved training course, passing a written exam covering alcohol laws, responsible beverage service, and safety protocols. Furthermore, applicants must undergo a criminal background check and demonstrate a commitment to preventing underage drinking and drunk driving. Obtaining a license is a significant undertaking, requiring substantial dedication.

What are the requirements for opening a bar in California?

Opening a bar in California is a complex undertaking governed by numerous state and local regulations. The first step is obtaining a federal Brewer's Notice from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). Subsequently, you’ll need to secure a license from the ABC, which typically involves demonstrating that the premises meet specific criteria, including square footage, zoning regulations, and proximity to residential areas. Local city and county permits are also required, adding further layers of compliance and potential fees.

What is the ABC’s role in regulating bars?

The California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agency plays a crucial role in regulating bars and the sale of alcohol throughout the state. Its primary responsibilities include licensing and permitting, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with laws, investigating complaints regarding illegal alcohol sales or activities, and enforcing dram laws – laws designed to prevent underage drinking and drunk driving. The ABC’s actions significantly impact bar operations.

What are dram laws and why are they important?

Dram laws in California are a set of regulations designed to prevent the sale and consumption of alcohol to minors and intoxicated individuals. These laws dictate age restrictions, responsible beverage service practices, and measures to prevent drunk driving. Strict enforcement of dram laws is critical for public safety and for holding establishments accountable for their role in alcohol-related incidents. They represent a cornerstone of California's alcohol regulations.

How does the ABC conduct inspections of bars?

The ABC conducts inspections of bars to assess compliance with state and local laws. These inspections can be unannounced or scheduled and cover a range of areas, including age verification procedures, responsible beverage service training, storage and handling of alcohol, and adherence to dram laws. Inspectors use a checklist to evaluate the bar’s operations and can issue warnings, citations, or even suspend or revoke licenses if violations are found.

What is responsible beverage service (RBS)?

Responsible beverage service (RBS) is a set of practices designed to minimize the harm associated with alcohol consumption. It’s a cornerstone of bar operations and requires bartenders to be trained to recognize signs of intoxication, refuse service to intoxicated patrons, and prevent underage drinking. RBS training covers topics such as alcohol awareness, service techniques, and conflict resolution.

What are the consequences of violating California’s alcohol laws?

Violating California’s alcohol laws can result in a range of penalties, depending on the severity of the offense. These penalties can include fines, suspension or revocation of licenses, criminal charges (such as DUI), and civil lawsuits. Repeat offenders face more severe consequences. The ABC has significant power to enforce compliance and protect the public.

How does California’s open alcohol policy affect bars?

California operates under an open alcohol policy, meaning that alcoholic beverages can be served on public sidewalks and in outdoor areas, subject to certain limitations. Bars must obtain permission from the ABC to serve alcohol outdoors, and there are restrictions on noise levels, seating arrangements, and proximity to residential areas. This policy presents unique operational challenges for bars.

What is the role of local governments in regulating bars?

Local city and county governments play a significant role in regulating bars through zoning ordinances, permitting processes, and local alcohol laws. These regulations can vary significantly depending on the location and may include restrictions on hours of operation, noise levels, and the density of bars in a particular area. Bars must comply with both state and local regulations to operate legally.

How does California’s alcohol tax system impact bar costs?

California’s alcohol tax system significantly impacts bar costs, as bars are required to pay excise taxes on the sale of alcoholic beverages. These taxes vary depending on the type of alcohol and the volume sold. The excise tax revenue is used to fund alcohol control programs and public health initiatives. Bar owners must carefully manage their costs to account for these taxes.
