Sadly this theater has been going down hill. The soda machines were empty, popcorn was everywhere, the butter stations were empty, and the movie screen had tons of little blue dots all over it through the whole movie. Yet the prices are higher than ever.

Everything here is Card. They do not take cash or anything. Great place to watch movies seats recline and they have a few games to play while you wait.

The theater was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. I would’ve given it five stars, but the limited parking was a bit of a hassle. Overall, still a great place to catch a show.

Love this theater. The seats are so comfortable they recline The place was clean The parking area was nice Across from the theater there’s little restaurants you can enjoy before or after a movie. The only thing that was odd in the women’s restroom a lot of the stalls were out of order 😜

Great ticket pricing and rewards. Comfy seats, but a few could use some tlc. The staff is always friendly. Variety of concession options from snacks to full meals and all reasonably priced.

red throughout it. These little blue dots appeared and would not go away which took away substantially from the movie. We were told by an employee to talk to guest services. We went and waited for 7 minutes. When they finally appeared, we informed them of the situation and our frustration as it took away from the movie. The worker was very condescending and rude. They asked if we told someone during the movie and we stated no as we were watching the movie. They stated that we should’ve come out during the movie to complain and since we «got what we paid for and watched the movie» they wouldn’t give us a refund. I said that was fine, I wasn’t looking for one, as a worker had told us to inform guest services so they could FIX and MAINTENANCE the projector. The guest services person just said alright and walked away. No thank you, no have a good day. Come to find out we were actually speaking to the supervisor… I feel bad for those who have to work this him. I’m sure he can’t take any feedback.

Really nice 👍👍👍👍👍:D Yes, it is very loud, and I wish the walls were sound proof so I wouldn’t be able to hear the reverberation from the other rooms, but overall, it’s really top notch👌. It’s clean, the food is good, and the workers seem pretty decent.

Great movie theater with amazing service. People are always friendly and the theaters/bathrooms are clean. My only complaint is there is no reclining seating in the IMAX. Easy to get food and drinks with plenty of parking. Best place to see a movie in the area.

Good place to go for movies. It seems they keep it clean. The staff are friendly and plenty of showings for movies. Plenty of parking too. My only gripe, which is why I gave 4 and not 5 stars, I guess you’d say is costs. It costs about the same for a tall bottled water and Medium sized soda as the ticket which was a little more than $17. Not sure how much goes to the vendor but it seemed unnecessarily pricey. The experience is pleasant there aside from that.

I purchased D-Box middle seats for The Mummy 10:30 showing at this location. When we arrived, other guests had taken our assigned seats. I went to the front desk before the movie even started to get it resolved — and was offered nothing but corner D-Box seats as an alternative, which is not the same experience I paid a premium for. What frustrated me most is that another customer in the same theater had staff remove people from their incorrect seats that same night. So the capability was there — it just wasn’t extended to me. A manager also walked by the situation and did nothing. When I expressed my frustration, the associate asked if I had tried asking the guests to move myself. That is not my responsibility as a paying customer. I have both my original receipt and the replacement receipt documenting the seat downgrade. I was left with no refund, no free tickets, and no real solution — forced to either leave and lose my money or stay in seats I didn’t pay for. The associate even acknowledged that free screenings are offered in certain situations, yet nothing was offered to me despite this clearly qualifying. This was poor customer service and I expect it to be made right. -Update Received a call from Paddy the following morning who apologized and offered 4 complimentary tickets. Appreciated the quick response and accountability. Updating my rating to reflect that they did make an effort to resolve this.»

Eddy G

This AMC theater was alright. Nothing too special, but not terrible either. The concessions were nice enough, and it seems to have some really nice theaters, but unfortunately, the one I was in was not the best. There was a weird spot on the screen where there was a double image/ghosting effect happening the whole movie. It wasn’t always noticeable, but whenever there was something like text in that spot, it was really annoying.

Watched a movie with my son and his friend. Snacks were yummy and fresh. Theater was clean, bathroom was clean and stocked, concession area was clean, and orders came out quick. For the most part employees were friendly, smiled, and made you feel welcomed. But the big guy, that may have been a manager, was not so welcoming. I noticed as other guests did that he was standing and watching the guests waiting in our line to order their snacks. As if they were going to steal a candy while standing in line. There were only 5 guests in line and 2 were with me. I found this rude especially since the other 2 people each spend over $60 and we spent over $100. You need to do better. Everything else was good but that makes guests not want to return to your theater.

I’ve been coming to this theater since my days working at Great America back in the early 2000s. The place has definitely changed for the better. I didn’t see an arcade anywhere—looks like The bar might’ve replaced it or something. Overall, solid experience. The theater was clean, the staff was friendly, and they turned that big old lobby into a concession stand moving the hot foods to where the original concession stand used to be.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this AMC location and will not be returning. The service at the front counter was completely unacceptable. We were a party of two simply trying to buy two movie tickets, but the front desk attendant, Diana, was incredibly rude and inexplicably insisted that we needed to purchase three tickets. No matter how many times we explained that there were only two of us, she refused to listen, acted completely unreasonable, and was aggressively confrontational. To make matters worse, she appeared to be visibly under the influence while working the register. Management needs to address this immediately—having staff who are impaired and forcing customers to pay for extra tickets is utterly ridiculous. Save your money and go to a different theater.

Had some extra time so decided to drop by to see a movie. It is a hot day so didn’t want to leave lunch leftovers in the car so wanted to bring a box in. They refused to let me bring in due to policy. I get the reason why but I’ve seen tons of people actually dining out in AMC theaters. I just didn’t want the food to go bad in the heat and wasn’t planning on eating. Plus they only sold a few seats in the theater. They’d rather be refund the ticket than to let me bring in a bag. At least some showing of understanding would’ve been nice.

Oh, some tips for drive-in movies 1. First-come-first-serve. Unlike cinemas with dedicated seats, parking lots at a drive-in movie theater is on a first-come-first-serve basis. As we were the first car here, we selected a perfect spot where all we saw was just the screen while reclining our seats. 2. Tilted Parking Lots. Each lot is tilted such that with the slope and height of the movie screen, all of the cars are able to see the screen without seeing the other cars in front of them. You can choose to either watch front-facing, like us – reclining our seats all the way back or back-facing where some families would bring pillows and blankets to lie flat and watch the movie. 3. Bring Your Own Food. You can bring your own food to drive-in movie theaters or you can purchase food from the food area. We did a combination…. Such a cute drive in movie theater! They have bathrooms, food, and lots of big parking spots. You tune your car into the station on the radio to hear the sound (it’s on the receipt). Highly recommend, so much fun for such a good price.

Quality experience at Cinemark! Screen was a bit small but sound was exceptional. Getting food and drinks was a bit confusing. Someone could easily walk out with some food without paying cuz staff was all hanging out and talking not paying attention. Popcorn was fresh and flavorful.

This review is mainly about Screen X. We saw Mission Impossible and found that Screen X is only active during certain scenes, not throughout the whole movie. It projects images onto the side walls (not actual screens), so it didn’t feel like anything spectacular. Honestly, I’d rather just have a bigger main screen. Overall, Screen X was okay but definitely not worth the extra cost or extra travel. That said, the theater itself is great: the staff is friendly, ample parking and the restrooms were clean.

Overall a really big fan of this movie theater, frequently return since its so close. I am 100% confident, however, that the «cleanup crew» who tidy up after everyone leaves, have absolutely 0 problem pocketing whatever they feel like finding in the cupholders. I walked away from my screening for 1 entire minute before i realized that my vape was missing, and left in my seats cupholder, as its fairly bulky in my pocket. I return, to find my cupholder cleaned out. Strongly upset as a repeat customer to have my belongings blatantly stolen.

Kevin

A decent movie theater thats been around for a long time. They been one of my staple theaters to watch movies when the timeframe works. They have their signature recliners that most AMC provides but they’re a bit outdated in my opinion. Other AMCs like the one in Arcadia have their signature recliners more updated color wise and comfortability as well. They’re also bigger which is nice to see. So this could get a big updated here in Montebello. Staff here is pretty quick, I have a AMC member account and saw that there’s two lines to purchase concessions but the priority line (member line) had more people than the non member line, a bit of a funny moment there as my partner and I lined up at the non member line and got out popcorn quicker than the priority line. Parking is plenty, free in a large shared lot. You’ll have a harder time not finding parking to be honest. One thing I can appreciate is that they keep the venue clean, plenty of restrooms around, speakers during the movies are pretty modernized as well which is nice as movie ticket prices these days are not cheap.

Dear AMC Management, I love this theatre – but I have one question… why is it warmer than a typical movie theatre? 😅 I’ve been coming here since I was a baby, and it’s a place I still visit regularly with my mom and grandma when I visit the area. My grandma lives in Rosemead, I grew up in Montebello, and coming to this theatre has always been a special tradition for us. I truly enjoy everything about this location. That said, the temperature has been consistently warm – more like room temperature than the colder, refreshing experience most people expect at a movie theatre. I remember in the past when a manager turned on ceiling fans to help, but it didn’t quite solve the issue and changed the overall feel. Part of the movie experience, especially with recliner seating, is being able to get cozy in a colder environment – bringing a blanket and really settling in. I haven’t been able to experience that here lately. If this temperature setting is preferred by most guests, I completely understand and respect that. I also understand the need to cater to the majority. However, I would really appreciate knowing what temperature the thermostat is typically set to, as it does impact my decision to continue visiting. Thank you for your time and consideration. I truly appreciate it!

I recently visited AMC Montebello 10 and had a really great experience. The theater was clean, well-maintained, and had a comfortable atmosphere that made watching a movie even more enjoyable. The seats were spacious and reclined nicely, which made it easy to relax throughout the film. The picture and sound quality were excellent—everything felt sharp and immersive. Staff members were friendly and helpful at both concessions and ticketing, and the lines moved pretty quickly even when it was busy. Overall, it’s a solid movie theater to catch new releases, whether you’re going with friends, family, or on a casual date night. I’d definitely come back again.

The condiment section was filthy disgusting. I mentioned it to one of the employees, who said they’d take care of it. Two hours later when we left the movie, it was still nasty, see attached pictures. The location is convenient, but the teenage staff don’t keep the place clean; the drink dispensers were speckled like a toilet visited by a White Castle patron.

I really enjoyed my experience at this movie theater. The seats are incredibly comfortable, and I love that they recline almost all the way back into a bed-like position, making it easy to relax and enjoy the movie. The sound quality is excellent and really adds to the overall experience. The employees were very nice, friendly, and helpful throughout my visit. There is also plenty of parking available, which makes getting in and out convenient. The only downside was the «hot food.»Unfortunately, it did not taste very good and was disappointing compared to the rest of the experience. Other than that, this is a great theater, and I would definitely return for another movie.

Never again my husband and I went here for the a late movie starting at 11pm I noticed the full trash cans outside the actual theater.we walk up to our seat it is filthy cups with drinks popcorn everywhere and nachos on the seats mind you we are in 4d experience. People were coming in grossed as well.we had to get the manager and stand during previews as a small team half ass cleaned.they pushed popcorn food from the chairs to the floor.with there hands. They dont wipe the cup holders anything. They should have offered a snack ,drink something. What a bad experience never again.

Sharon Barraza ☆ 1/5

First of all, let me start with how nice the theater looks. When I first came to see a movie there in 4DX in 2025, it was being renovated and already it looked promising. After recently returning, the renovations were already simply fantastic. The atmosphere is classic and modern at the same time. There used to be a second concessions where I got a hot dog from but it has since been removed and replaced with a small relaxing spot with some little tables. My favorite part, of course, is 4DX. I love how the seats synch near-perfectly, most of the effects were present including smoke, lighting, snow, scent, and rainwater, and the air blasts work very well. I even love the layout and design of the theater, the environment, and the screen size. However, there are a few issues. One is the seats lacking those little things that shoot out rear air blasts near your ears which are missing on many seats. The other big issue is the water which are basically cold air blasts. I think a few seats only have aerial seat rain effects. The Regal team should really have those issues fixed if people want a more perfect 4DX. If you don’t care much about certain effects, even air and water blasts, this is definitely the experience for you. Now, like I said, the theater is looking nice and so is the 4DX which isn’t perfect. The Long Beach Regal theater is another great place to see a movie. They have advertising screens in the lobby and the front entrance. If you’re from Orange County or Los Angeles, or anywhere else, this is a another great option for seeing movies. 4DX is still great, just needs a few… patches. The pictures I shared are from my visits in 2025 and 2026.

If I could leave less than one star, I would. We went to watch Obsession today. 30 minutes in, this couple sat next to us and started drinking, that wasn’t really the worst part – he started screaming, shaking, yelling, moving around, and doing drugs. It got to a point where I was feeling unsafe cause I was literally sitting next to him so my partner and I moved out of concern. Even one couple left cause it got way too scary, tbh. A worker (I’m assuming it was the manager) went in to check and I was hoping security would come in but they didn’t. The movie ended and this guy was still there. It was until we got out that we saw security outside. What was the point of waiting outside? Something could’ve easily happen to anyone there, and they didn’t do anything. We went to the parking lot and saw two police cars pulling in and the security guard went to talk to one of them and basically said the couple just left. Probably the worst and most unsafe movie theater I’ve ever been. Please don’t come to this place. They don’t take safety seriously AT ALL.

Nothing luxury about this theater at all, service is terrible, employees look like they don’t even want to be there, & to top it off everything they advertise isn’t even available. This is by far the WORST theater I’ve ever been to in my life. I do not recommend, if you see this please listen & DON’T COME HERE! Inglewood location is by far way better. Middle of the week and middle of the day experience, it’s an ok theater. The drink selection is 5 soda choices but there is a ton of food options if you would like to eat a full meal in the theater. I did like their popcorn so I’d give it a 7.2/10. It’s salty and they’re butter is pretty good. I didn’t find the sound of the regular non premium screen to be good. The seats are comfy. Lots of arcade options. Staff is nice, theater is clean.

Nice theater. Clean, decent seats but nothing special. Terrible lines of 30 plus minutes for popcorn. 1 bartender for 10 plus people in line…another 20 minutes. Both drinks wrong but time running out. A family needs to split up and prepared to wait. First time I would support anyone bringing in drinks and food into the movie theater. Staffing is poor here for whatever reason. Second time I have visited, same result.

I did the vip, totally worth it I got free sodas, popcorn, ice cream and slushies. There is also a bar there as well and couches you can sit on if need be, and private bathrooms for just that room. Overall the theater was big and comfortable, and the room wasn’t too cold like how the rooms usually get lol

Took my daughter to see The Goat and they only had it in the VIP theater. I’m sad I didn’t know about part of the theater before now! It was so cool getting unlimited snacks and drinks and we had the theater to ourselves!

Great experience, the food was amazing. SUPER high quality screen and the seats are so comfortable, 1000/10 would recommend. Also, the lines are not long at all and the workers are so polite they deserve a raise for kindness!

I come here all the time for 4DX and IMAX, which are genuinely the best viewing experiences in the valley in my opinion, but I do have a few frustrations with this theater, the biggest being the concession line. While I thought having a central line would be a good thing once that change happened, for some reason it does not negate the years-long problem of the length of time waiting. The other day I came for 4DX, for which 9/10 times the film begins 25-30 minutes after the ticketed time; however, even that wasn’t enough to get me through the line in time and I missed the first 10 minutes of my movie. I find that absolutely ridiculous. I’ve noticed now they’re pushing for the online/ app ordering system, which I feel I have no choice but to invest in given that it’s been years and I have no faith the concession line issue will be fixed in and of itself, making the consumer do the work-around of the issue. The other issue I had was the one time I went to a screen x showing, the seats were so squeaky it distracted me from the entire film. Will I stop coming to this theater? No, it’s one of my hometown theaters, but I feel it’s important people know what to expect.

Has to be the flat out worst theatre expirience I have ever had. We walk in 20 mins early for our movie to be greated by 45 min concession lines. Once we decided it was useless to wait for just drinks we went into our 4dx theatre for Backrooms. Trailers were still going so we started looking for our seat. Looking at the lights on the floor I could tell I was in the correct row. I counted to seats 6-7 and was staring at two people in my seats. I looked back and forth at my ticket and the seats for about 20 seconds. As the lazy couple in front of me tried to act like I was not there. I confronted them kindly and asked what their seat numbers were. The female immediately responded with «well some kids took our seats so we couldnt sit in ours». I offered to go to her seats and and get the kids out. I asked for her ticket, she showed me and I approached her seats to only find them empty. So I can only assume she was lying and wanted a closer seat. They appropriately got out of MY seats and went back to theirs. My gf and I sat down and another person followed sitting in the 3rd seat. He immediately thanked me and said they took his seat. Mind you his seat was occupied by a purse. The lady was taking his seat for her PURSE! The movie started and as expected the audience was quiet for the most part, but a lot of chatter. 5 minutes into the movie a couple had their seats taken and the people taking their seats would not move. Very short lived confrontation. Im not even sure how it ended 15 mins into the movie a young male approached a row nearby and was asking for HIS seat for maybe 8 minutes. Finnaly a couple of girls got out of his seat and walked up to the back rows. Ofcourse, at this point, I was not suprised. There were more issue with the whole experience, but overall this theatre is poorly managed. I couldn’t enjoy the movie. It looks nice, but there is hardly any staff. I’m never wasting my time with this theatre again.

Maya Cinema puts little effort in making a positive movie goer experience, with the old cracked vinyl seats, the out of service sink in the ladies bathroom and only 1 of 3 sinks having soap. It is evident why Maya Cinemas was so empty on a Saturday night – people would much rather go to Regal or Sierra Vista. my daughter’s leg kept getting scraped from the seat she sat on as their was a big cut on the vinyl. After the movie we reported it to Guest Services that the seats were cracked and the Assistant Manager on duty said he was aware and that that was not Mayas Cinemas priority! And this is why it is so empty, uncomfortable seats, with no effort to keep things maintained and stocked.

I really enjoy this theater. Its quiet and service is fast. The concessions are much more reasonable than elsewhere, you can get a large popcorn and 2 large drinks for 25 bucks. They also have the newer self service fountain drink machines with a ton of options. In my opinion their subscription service is much better than their competitors. Especially for people with families. Their subscription plan covers up to 6 people a month, rather than just a single subscriber and gives you 15% off concessions. The only gripes you might have is that the theater is a little dated and mostly has the classic stadium seating, but it doesn’t bother me and the family likes it too. For me it’s 5 stars but I’ll give 4 just to be fair and honest.

Very clean and somewhat helpful staff. Youngsters at the registers and entrance. They are «cashless» so if you are old fashioned like we are then you have to buy a prepaid card on one of there kiosks. Oh boy that was not fun at all. Then after that you have to go to another kiosk to buy your tickets for the movie AND then you have to pick what seats you want to sit in before your transaction is completed. We asked for help a couple of times but the young guys were not very helpful at all. I dont think we will be going back again

Used to be great. Been a long time supporter and member since before COVID and would routinely convince large groups to go here over the other theatre options. Would go almost every other week but since they got rid of their app, their subscription, and wiped the rewards they have been slowly dying. On top of seats and restrooms showing significant wear and need of repair they had the decided to stop showing lots of big movies. For example they didn’t show Disclosure Day, Scary Movie 6, Master of the Universe, and more recently The Odyssey.

The movie was great however volume was so low you can hear the movie next door on. The bathroom were so disgusting and half the sinks were tapped off broken followed by no paper towels and broken dryers as well. It was so disgusting. I’ll never go back EVER.

I use to go to maya since they opened up but lately they have been lacking with not having certain movies playing , also their app has really bad issues and now they got rid of their app so now you have go directly to the website. I did enjoy this theatre and the size of the MPX screen but they need to get their shit together so I can go back.

Absolutely filthy, ended up staining my clothes from the sticky mess all over my seat. Also, there were issues with the screen projector. The brightness was so low it was difficult to make out what was happening on the screen. Wasted our time and money.

Frequently asked questions about cinemas in California

What types of cinema experiences are available in California?

California offers a diverse range of cinema experiences, from traditional movie theaters showing the latest blockbusters to art house cinemas dedicated to independent and foreign films. You’ll find luxury dine-in theaters offering premium seating, food and beverage service directly to your seat, and IMAX and Dolby Cinema experiences delivering immersive visuals and sound. There are also smaller, independent theaters showcasing a curated selection of films and documentaries.

How do I find a cinema near me?

Several resources can help you find a cinema near you. Websites like Fandango and Atom Tickets allow you to search for theaters by location and film. Google Maps is also a useful tool for locating nearby cinemas, and you can often find showtimes directly on the theater’s website. Don’t forget to check local listings for smaller, independent venues.

What are the typical ticket prices for cinemas in California?

Ticket prices in California can vary significantly depending on the location, the theater type, and the time of day. Standard 2D tickets typically range from $12 to $20, while 3D and premium formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema can cost $18 to $30 or more. Luxury dine-in theaters often have higher prices, ranging from $25 to $45 per ticket, including food and beverage costs. Matinee showings usually offer discounted rates.

Are there any cinemas with special accessibility features?

Many cinemas in California are committed to providing accessible experiences for all patrons. Most theaters offer wheelchair rentals, accessible seating, and assistive listening devices. It’s always best to check with the specific theater in advance to confirm their accessibility features and to inquire about any assistance that may be available.

What types of food and beverages are typically available at cinemas?

The availability of food and beverages varies depending on the theater. Traditional movie theaters generally offer a limited selection of popcorn, candy, and soft drinks. However, luxury dine-in theaters provide a full menu of restaurant-quality food and alcoholic beverages, allowing you to enjoy a complete dining experience during the film. Some independent cinemas may also have a small concession stand.

Do cinemas in California offer reserved seating?

Increasingly, cinemas in California offer reserved seating, allowing you to select your preferred seats in advance. This is particularly common in luxury dine-in theaters and premium format cinemas like IMAX and Dolby Cinema. Reserved seating can be booked online or through the theater’s app, ensuring you have a comfortable seat for the film. Traditional theaters often operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

What are the operating hours of cinemas in California?

Cinema operating hours in California vary depending on the theater and the film schedule. Mainstream theaters typically offer matinee showings during the day and evening screenings throughout the evening. Some theaters may have extended hours on weekends or for special events. It's best to check the theater’s website or online listings for specific showtimes and operating hours.

Are there any cinemas that host special events or screenings?

Many cinemas in California host special events and screenings beyond the regular film schedule. These events may include classic movie nights, film festivals, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and private screenings. Keep an eye on the theater’s website and social media channels for announcements about upcoming events. Smaller, independent cinemas are particularly known for hosting unique and curated screenings.

How can I find information about film reviews and ratings?

Several websites and apps provide film reviews and ratings to help you decide which movies to see. Rotten Tomatoes aggregates reviews from critics and audiences, providing a Tomatometer score. IMDb (Internet Movie Database) offers a wealth of information about films, including user ratings and cast/crew details. Metacritic assigns a weighted average score based on reviews from various sources. These resources can be invaluable for researching movies before heading to the cinema.

What are the regulations regarding outside food and beverages in California cinemas?

Regulations regarding outside food and beverages vary from theater to theater in California. While large bags and coolers are generally prohibited, many theaters allow patrons to bring in small, unopened water bottles. It’s always best to check the theater’s specific policy before arriving, as some theaters may have stricter rules to maintain the quality of their concessions. Violating these regulations can result in warnings or ejection from the theater.
