Mel Rice - STUDIO CERAMICA

Such a lovely way to spend a Saturday. I enjoyed every moment of the class, from learning the basics to actually getting my hands on the clay. Mel is an amazing teacher: warm, patient, encouraging, and just genuinely fun to learn from. I left happy, relaxed, and already wanting to do it again. Such a good Saturday!

I loved my wheel throwing class with Mel! While we added handles to cups and glazed, she taught the class how to hand mold as well. An amazing teacher and the conversations in class are always so fun. I highly recommend this studio and any class is amazing here!

10/10 the sweetest, most loving, most affectionate diva, Nina/Nieves ✨️ ...and the studio is nice too, I guess. JUST KIDDING! 😂 Took a 4-week class and as someone with not the most confidence when trying new things, this was a really fun experience! The instructors are knowledgable and you can tell they have a great appreciation + passion for their craft. Pet friendly as well! (Nina/Nieves is Mel's dog 🥰) Super excited to see how my pieces turn out!

I’m currently taking a 4-week wheel throwing class at Mel’s studio and can’t recommend it enough! The space has a wonderful community atmosphere, and our instructor Tiff is excellent—so knowledgeable and encouraging. I enjoyed it so much that I extended for an extra week. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to take a pottery class in Richmond. Also pup friendly!

Absolutely love and recommend this studio! I just finished the 5-week intro to ceramics course and have only positive things to say about the studio. I have made so many cute things and still have some projects in the works. I came in with a vision and Mel really helped me and encouraged me to bring my vision to life. The community is also so kind and welcoming. Even when Mel isn’t in the studio I have gotten help from other members and instructors and I appreciate the variety in teaching styles. Make sure to use up your studio time as a student if you plan on taking a class!
