The Expanding Light Retreat

I've been to The Expanding Light Retreat twice now, and have been greeted so lovingly and kindly both times. The Karma Yogi program specifically will always hold a special place in my heart. Sambhava, Jake, Prita, and the whole team always provide a steady loving grace that feels like returning home after a long journey. I'm grateful for the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and will take his words with me as part of my spiritual armor. Until next time, my loved ones 💜🕉💜

Such a peaceful place to escape to! The Mother’s Day retreat was the perfect way to celebrate with my mom. We loved the activities, food, accommodations and overall experience. The gardens are spectacular. Will be back for relaxation soon!

I had a beautiful experience at Expanding Light. I came for Inner Renewal week and also took a few personal retreat days there. It was a perfect place to deepen my connection with spirit, grow my meditation skills, connect with community, and introspect. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity to spend time there and learn from so many knowledgeable people and I will definitely be back in years to come. It doesn’t usually snow during Inner Renewal week, but this year it did 🙂 so we got some beautiful vistas to meditate on. I chose to stay in a single private room with shared bathrooms down the hall (Serenity House). The accommodations were simple, warm, comfortable and clean. Guest services was very helpful! The shared bathrooms in Serenity House are single occupancy, so no one else is in the bathroom while you are in there. I also stayed in a cabin. I would recommend the cabins for someone looking to be even more nestled in nature and looking for a bit more seclusion. For the cabins there’s a shared bathroom that you need to walk outside to get to. Both accommodations were great. I would recommend speaking to guest services. If you tell them what you’re looking for in your retreat, they can help you pick the best accommodation.

I did the Keeping Your Aura Strong weekend retreat and it was an amazing experience. Huge thanks to our instructor, Krishna Das! Our classes and activities over the weekend were very insightful and profound, and I feel like I’ve gained tools and perspectives that I use for a lifetime. The accommodations were great—my friend and I stayed in Serenity House in a shared twin and it was really cozy and comfortable. The village itself and the surrounding area is beautiful, and all the residents and other retreat members are so kind and open minded. The food was AMAZING. 10/10 experience and will hopefully be back again!

Words cannot express how grateful I am to the Expanding Light retreat center. Meerabi greeted me with warmth & compassion. I came as a Karma Yogi to learn how a spiritual community operates as well as deepen my spiritual life. This place is it if you’re in America. I have visited a few other communities but this one has one clear purpose, to help the individual spiritual seeker on their path. From yoga, satsangs, spiritual guidance and support (which is free if you’re a Karma Yogi) to musical events. I mean the list goes on & on. Maghe with her outrageous Halloween costumes, which she loans out for free. Sambhava was organizing the yogis and he showed up calmly with a kind ear and gentle way to handle a lot of yogis. I am so grateful to Swami Kriyananda for never giving up, so there is a safe & loving space for real spiritual growth & SUPPORT! I even am thinking about joining the community. Much love to all !

A wonderful community with beautiful souls. I go there on the personal retreat, as I like a lot of time for self reflection. This time I stayed in one of the Harmony House rooms. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, the AC worked well during some of the hottest days of summer (only 89-90 up there, but still), the water from the shower could get as cold as I like it (it goes the other direction too), which was utterly delightful. The food is vegetarian, with vegan and gluten free options, and is so delicious--I can feel the love it's infused with. The grounds are gorgeous. I love seeing the wild deer, turkeys, birds and other animals that frequently visit. It's a lovely place, indeed.

A transformative experience and a retreat option with loving people around you invested in simple living and high thinking every day. It is truly inspiring and very comfortable way to recharge from daily grind. Take advantage of sadhana, yoga and meditation for deeper bliss and indulge in delish, nutritious food everyday, good for your body and soul. The moment I left I wanted to go back and relive the joy at Ananda.
