This outlets is 15-20mins away from downtown LA. pretty good location. Lots of visitors for sure. They have corridors along the shops. It really helps with the hot days. Sports, fashions, shoes, high end brands are all in this outlet. Discounts in many stores. The staff were nice in the stores we visited. DON’T USE THE BATHROOMS BY FOODCOURT. They only have 3 gender neutral stalls. The line is forever. Several parking lots (free and valet). Easy to navigate inside the outlet. Benches for people to sit. Many vending machines for drinks/water.

The year-end sales had great outlet prices, discounts, and offers, and we picked up a few nice items. There are plenty of shopping options for everyone, which made it a fun family outing. The food choices are also good, with vegetarian options available at places like Chipotle and Subway. Overall, a family-friendly outlet with good deals, variety, and dining options. Really enjoyed my time at The Grove! It’s a beautiful, lively place with a great atmosphere, plenty to see and do, and a nice mix of shopping and dining. Definitely a great place to spend a few hours, and I’d happily visit again.

An absolute favorite stop on our trip! We spent hours here walking the loop twice, shopping at Edikted and Brandy Melville, checking out the unique Apple Store, Nike by you, and eating through the Farmers Market. Waiting 30 minutes at La La Land Kind Cafe was totally worth the vibe and coffee. The only downside was the garage parking—rates aren't clearly displayed upfront, and staying ~4 hours set us back about $23 with no real alternative parking around. Next time, I'll definitely keep it under 1–2 hours and ask vendors for validation!

The Grove is always a vibe especially during the holidays when everything is beautifully decorated. The store selection isn't quite as extensive as other shopping outdoors , but it's still a great spot to visit every now and then for shopping, walking around, and enjoying the atmosphere. H&M and Zara finally opened up here, which is a nice addition! The AMC theater here is great too, making it a perfect place to catch a movie after grabbing a coffee or doing a little shopping. Overall, it's a fun place to hang out and spend a few hours.

The Grove is one of my favorite places to visit whenever my daughter and I are in Los Angeles. I love beautiful places, and this is much more than just a shopping center. It’s the kind of place where you want to dress up, take your time, and simply enjoy the atmosphere. The beautifully decorated storefronts, charming architecture, and the fountain in the center make every visit feel special. I especially love the cafés with their French-style outdoor seating, where people relax over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Even if I’m not shopping, I enjoy walking around, people-watching, and soaking in the atmosphere. It always feels elegant, lively, and inspiring. A perfect place for a relaxing afternoon in Los Angeles. ❤️ Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys beautiful surroundings, good coffee, and a little bit of European charm.

Visited The Grove in LA, and it’s more than just a shopping mall — it feels like a mix of shopping, entertainment, and a mini theme park. The whole place is designed really well. The outdoor layout, fountain show, and even the vintage-style trolley make it a fun place to walk around, even if you’re not planning to shop much. There are plenty of popular brands and restaurants, so it’s easy to spend a few hours here. It’s also connected to the Original Farmers Market, which gives you even more food options. What I liked most is the atmosphere, especially in the evening when the lights turn on. It feels lively but still relaxed, and definitely very "LA vibe." Prices are on the higher side, and parking can be a bit tricky during busy times, but overall it’s a very enjoyable place to visit. Overall, it’s not just for shopping — it’s a great spot to hang out, eat, and experience a classic LA lifestyle. Check my profile for travel tips and hidden deals.

If you like busy, busy and a very lively atmosphere, The Grove is especially for you. Tons of food and shopping to choose from! Parking is plenty. You may have to go way up to the 7th floor of the structure as it can get very tight on weekends. The farmers market and food court area is a haven for multicultural foods and taste experiences. Very fun!

This place is incredible! It has all the great stores, and you wouldn’t even realize it’s there from the outside. The parking garage, like many others, isn’t free if you’re under two hours. Maybe it’s the location or maybe it was Friday. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s a great place to stroll around, grab a coffee or a bite to eat, or visit the farmers market (which is awesome!).

Growing up visiting this mall, the experience feels familiar yet refreshed, with renovated corridors, brighter lighting, and an expanded selection of shops that keep it relevant for both locals and visitors. The food court remains one of its strongest features, offering everything from Asian dishes to American classics, smoothies, and quick snacks, making it a convenient stop during a long shopping day. Inside, the mall’s layout is easy to navigate, with wide hallways and clear signage that help guide shoppers through outlet favorites like Nike, Gap, and Coach, as well as specialty stores and seasonal pop‑ups. Families appreciate the safe indoor environment, while groups of friends enjoy browsing deals and grabbing food together. The mall’s atmosphere blends nostalgia with modern convenience, making it a place where childhood memories meet new experiences. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick purchase or planning a longer shopping trip, the Great Mall offers enough variety to keep the visit engaging. What makes the Great Mall stand out is its ability to serve different types of visitors—bargain hunters, families, casual shoppers, and even tourists looking for a large indoor outlet center. The combination of accessible parking, public transit connections, and a wide range of stores makes it one of the most convenient malls in the region. Its food court, outlet deals, and familiar layout create a comfortable environment that encourages repeat visits. I still get people almost slamming into me as they rush by to grab one thing or another at box lunch or hot topic 😅 aisles are a little bit too small

Nice mall with a good selection of stores and food options. Parking was easy, and the mall was clean when I visited. It can get a little busy, but it’s still a convenient place to shop or walk around in Sacramento.

If you want the best of the best, South Coast Plaza is it. Every major brand you can think of, LV, Chanel, Gucci, is here in one place. The mall is huge and very well-maintained. But the real highlight of my trip was the LEGO Store. We’ve been hunting for the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D since it launched in December, and it’s been sold out everywhere. We walked in, and they actually had 2 left! After months of waiting, we finally got it. If you're a collector, this is the spot to check when everywhere else is dry. Incredible day!

This is an extremely upscale, beautifully designed mall with almost every luxury brand you can think of. The layout, architecture, and overall vibe feel very high-end and polished – it’s an experience as much as it is a shopping destination. One tip: Park near the stores you plan to visit. The mall is big, and it’s very easy to underestimate the walking distance. Once you’re inside, everything feels spread out in a deliberate, elegant way, but your step counter will notice. If you enjoy luxury shopping, browsing, or just soaking in a refined atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth the visit. Just plan your parking strategically and enjoy the stroll.

Mostly very high end retail stores and restaurants. Parking used to be easy here but now seems like there are more crowds. Come early on weekends for better parking. There are a lot of special events held here, on the southwest side of the mall – if you cross the overhead bridge ( the side that has the Apple Store) – a yearly event is the Spring Garden Show! Normally at the end of April. Not to be missed if you are a huge fan of plants, flowers – especially orchids and roses. I’ve attended for 3 years now. The decor in the mall matches the event each year with some pretty displays!

THE ULTIMATE SANCTUARY FOR RETAIL THERAPY AND WINDOW DREAMING · VIBE CHECK this is not just a mall; it's a destination. the energy is upscale and buzzing, but fair warning, it attracts all the people. like, seriously, so many people. come prepared for that. THE LAYOUT impeccably organized and maintained, which is a major W. it's consistently clean. parking is ample, though it gets lowkey packed during the holidays, fr. the structure is easy to navigate. THE SELECTION the brand lineup is seriously next level, from timeless luxury houses to current hype shops. the restaurant choices are also elite, offering a proper refuel between sprees. There are so many shops here and the place is huge. Finding a parking spot on the weekends can be a real challenge. Since it’s an outdoor mall, you’ll be out in the sun while walking around. If you get tired, you can take a break or grab a bite at the food court. The discounts are great, so I’m sure you’ll have a successful shopping trip!

It’s been a few years since I came here. This is supposedly to be an outdoor mall with high-end stores. Last week is probably like a battle zone there because of Black Friday and many cars are looking for parking spots. Gladly, I didn’t go there that week because it would take me forever to look for one. Today is like this except that it’s less hectic since it’s a normal week. I would not survive last week and might have to go all the back to Fremont. Nothing much has changed except that there’s a passageway that has a boba shop with it as well as Christmas decorations since I visited in December. Food court is pretty much packed as usual. They have good stores here like Bloomingdale’s and Old Navy. Most malls usually have less people due to changes of customer habits like online shopping. This is different because of the vibe and how high-end it is. It’s one of the best malls in the Bay Area. Still it’s very cold there and I recommend that you put on your jacket and pants since the mall takes place outside.

An outlet mall that features large stores from almost all major brands. The mall is quite large and involves a lot of walking. There is a proper food court along with smaller coffee and ice cream shops, as well as vending machines spread across the mall. The pricing at all stores is considerably discounted, while majority of the stores have further larger discounts available. Not much tech available in this outlet mall, however definitely a good place for shopping clothes, shoes, jewelry and other accessories. The free parking lot circles around the mall, and for short trips it’s better to find the store and park closer to

Frequently asked questions about shopping malls in California

What defines a shopping mall in California?

A shopping mall in California is typically a large, enclosed or open-air complex housing a collection of retail stores, restaurants, and often entertainment venues. These malls can range in size from relatively small, neighborhood-focused centers to enormous, regional destinations. The key characteristic is the concentration of commercial spaces designed for consumer shopping and leisure, offering a diverse range of goods and services.

How do California shopping malls differ from those in other states?

California shopping malls often feature a more diverse range of brands and retailers, reflecting the state's large and varied population. There’s also a significant emphasis on outdoor shopping experiences, with many malls incorporating expansive courtyards, rooftop terraces, and open-air walkways, particularly in Southern California. Furthermore, the scale of malls can be significantly larger, driven by the state’s substantial retail market and consumer spending habits. Luxury brands are frequently prominent.

What factors influence the success of a California shopping mall?

Several factors contribute to the success of a shopping mall in California. Proximity to major population centers and easy access via highway systems are crucial. The quality of the retail tenants, including a mix of popular and unique stores, plays a significant role. Effective marketing and promotional activities, coupled with a well-maintained and attractive environment, are also essential. Finally, consumer trends and changing preferences heavily impact a mall’s performance.

How does the climate affect shopping mall operations?

California’s Mediterranean climate significantly impacts shopping mall operations. The consistently warm and sunny weather encourages extended shopping hours and outdoor activities. Mall developers often design spaces with an emphasis on outdoor seating areas and shaded walkways to provide comfortable shopping experiences. However, extreme heat can necessitate cooling measures, and occasional rainfall can impact outdoor events and activities.

What types of retail businesses are commonly found in California malls?

California shopping malls host a broad spectrum of retail businesses, including department stores like Nordstrom and Macy’s, popular fast-fashion retailers such as Zara and H&M, specialty stores catering to diverse interests (e.g., athletic wear, electronics, home goods), and a significant number of local boutiques and artisan shops. Food courts and restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines are also a standard component.

How do malls contribute to local economies?

Shopping malls generate substantial economic activity in their surrounding communities. They provide employment opportunities for a large number of people, including retail staff, security personnel, and restaurant employees. They also contribute to tax revenue for local governments. Furthermore, malls often serve as gathering places, fostering social interaction and supporting other local businesses through increased foot traffic.

What role do malls play in entertainment and leisure?

Beyond retail, California shopping malls frequently offer entertainment and leisure options. Many malls feature movie theaters, arcades, and family entertainment centers. Some have expanded to include indoor play areas for children and even live music venues. These features contribute to the mall’s appeal as a multi-faceted destination for shoppers and families.

How have online shopping trends impacted California malls?

The rise of online shopping has presented a significant challenge to California malls. Many malls have responded by rebranding, incorporating more experiential retail and entertainment options to attract customers. Others are undergoing renovations and redevelopments to create more appealing environments. The ability to adapt to changing consumer behavior is crucial for the survival of California malls.

What types of events are commonly held at California malls?

California shopping malls frequently host a variety of events to attract visitors and create a lively atmosphere. These can include holiday celebrations, concerts, fashion shows, art exhibitions, food festivals, and community events. Many malls also host seasonal sales and promotions to drive traffic.

How are malls evolving to meet modern consumer demands?

California shopping malls are undergoing a period of transformation to meet evolving consumer demands. There's a shift towards experiential retail, with malls incorporating more interactive displays, workshops, and personalized services. Food and beverage options are becoming increasingly diverse and upscale. Technology is also playing a growing role, with malls utilizing mobile apps and digital signage to enhance the shopping experience. Sustainability initiatives are also gaining traction.
