This was a lovely place for Italian desserts during the Italian Festival in North Beach (June 2026). It’s a quaint place along Columbus, bordering Chinatown in San Francisco. We were able to get some Tiramisu and Sacripantina. Both were excellent. It’s kind of a tiny place, along Columbus. Service was good. Definitely will try to come back soon.
Stella Pastry is our absolute go-to place for dessert after dinner in San Francisco. They display a beautiful array of tasty pastries, but the strawberry shortcake and the tiramisu cakes are really excellent. Their biscottis are also fantastic and perfect to take home. It’s a wonderful North Beach spot that never fails to satisfy a sweet tooth!
Stopped by this little store to try one thing, a square of their sacripantina cake. It was so delicious. Nice and chilled, a good strong rum flavor in the cake. Many of their other cake and desserts looked delicious as well, especially the tiramisu square and strawberry shortcake.
The service was excellent. It was raining and the shop was completely full. There was an empty table but no chair available because the chairs had been taken by other customers. I was standing and eating my pastry at the table when someone from the kitchen noticed and brought me a plastic chair from the back so I could sit down. It was a small but very thoughtful gesture, and I really appreciated it. Stella Pastry is a classic Italian bakery in North Beach and it’s easy to see why it’s so well regarded. The pastries are consistently well made and balanced, without being overly sweet. The cannoli stands out for its crisp shell and smooth ricotta filling, with just the right amount of sweetness and texture. The tiramisu is also very solid—good coffee flavor, clean layers, and not overly heavy. Sacripantina is less common but represents a more traditional Italian-style cake with sponge, cream, and subtle alcohol notes. Overall, the desserts feel carefully made, with attention to proportion and flavor rather than excess. This is the kind of place people return to for reliable, classic Italian pastries rather than trendy or overdone sweets
Tbh, this is a highly overrated spot. I’m wondering how people say it’s divine!? We had canoli, sacripantina and a few cookies, all average and good. I felt that a normal bakery in India would have more delicious food than this place. May be this is a taste loved by other country people? May be.
