Budget Car Rental

Joke of a car rental place. First off, we waited in line for 20 minutes for the guy working the desk to acknowledge us. Secondly, the first car we were assigned smelled like someone smoked weed in it continuously for a week. We went and asked for a new car which was granted. I found it interesting the staff acknowledged that the cleaning crew had been slacking the whole day. Second car we got was FILTHY. When I mentioned that to staff they said sorry we can give you a third car. Again they admitted the cleaning crew were not doing their job that day. We figured all cars would be disgusting since this was our second car. We opted to just buy Lysol wipes and cleaned the interior ourselves. For the price paid, Budget should be ashamed by the quality of the cars they’re providing to people.

Never properly staffed. Had to wait 2 hrs in line to get a car that I already booked online under Budget Preferred. I understand it is a long weekend, but why does the counter at the 4th floor only have one person during a long weekend? Not to mention it’s take them 10-15 minutes just to handle a single person (if the person hasn’t booked a car online). So if you are the 15th person in line, you can forget the next 2 hrs of your life

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. I used my vehicle for under 24 hours. I returned it and the attendant did not mention anything regarding the car being excessively dirty. I looked at the car before leaving as well and ensured I did not leave any thrash behind. Budget then decides to charge me $250 excessive cleaning fee. I am currently reaching out to resolve this error. Will update this once I hear back.

This car rental place is a joke. I’d advise anyone to never come here. The person at the desk was very unhelpful regarding our reservation & when you call it automatically goes straight to AI you never get to talk to a real person. Horrible company -5 stars if I could.

Rented a EV car for 48h business Trip. Car was ready for pick up, I returned it on time with the battery at higher level than pick up. I got charged $18 for extra gas.. how do you guys charge gas on a EV car ?!!?!? I complained through the budget survey, i received an email acknowledging the issue and confirming a refund.. still waiting for it.. Car rental company are all scam now, they all do this kind of stuff and you have no power against them

Car worked and was clean. Rented an SUV through Costco and my price was 182 for the reservation and my final cost was 372.00 which is absolutely insane! Had an identical reservation and my total there was 210.00 which is reasonable. Don't think I'll ever rent through here again.

I picked up my car from SJC rental center through the FastBreak and the car was at spot J05, about 200 feet from the elevator. I inspected the car, a Toyota Camry with Idaho license plate, and it had a few damages and not washed. I accepted it anyway since I was far from the office and there was no staff nearby to address my concern. I took it anyway and mentioned the damages to the attendant at the checkout stall. He gave me a carbon copy form and told me to circle the damage areas, and I marked up several areas. When I returned the car at SFO, I also pointed out the damages to the return staff and showed them my copy, and they still noted the car is damaged by me. The next day I received an email from Budget claiming that I got into an accident, and told me to file a report. I have pictures at the time I picked up at SJC the damages were already there. If the car already has substantial damages then it should have been in the system. Why should I be accountable for existing damages?
