Loved touring the USS Midway! Such a cool and super interesting experience. There is so much history packed into this ship, and you could easily spend hours exploring it. The tour was great, and even the cafeteria was worth checking out. Definitely worked up an appetite walking around this massive ship! #yumthebestever If you’re in San Diego, the USS Midway is absolutely worth a visit. ⚓️🇺🇸

The USS Midway Museum was one of the highlights of our trip! The ship is absolutely massive, and there is so much to explore that you could easily spend hours there. Whether you’re interested in aircraft carriers, military aircraft, naval history, or just history in general, there’s something for everyone. The volunteer docents were fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and always happy to answer questions or share stories from their own experiences. The videos and exhibits throughout the ship were also very well done, making it easy to appreciate the history and understand what life aboard the Midway was really like. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It’s an incredible museum that’s educational, entertaining, and well worth the visit. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone visiting San Diego!

Easily worth an entire day just to visit thus historic aircraft carrier. There is so much to see and they also offer free Audio clips to listen to while walking around. If you love military history this is a must see for sure. We were there for 4.5 hours however we had to cut it short and missed a bunch. Plan for at least this long if you want to see it!

We visited the museum on a Thursday afternoon. There were a fair amount of people there but even so, the museum is enormous since it’s a good chunk of the ship. To get the most out of the museum, you will climb steep stairs, go through narrow and low-ceiling passages and step through typical ship doorways by lifting your feet. Some areas are a bit warm, but they’ve done a great job adding fans and air conditioning strategically so you don’t spend too much time in stale air. There is a self-guided audio tour where you can scan a small area on the signage and get history about a particular room, plane, or area. They have an on-site bookstore filled with old editions of historical books as well. There are a lot of clean restrooms, a cafe and a gift shop. Like with anything in San Diego, everything is overpriced. I paid almost $10 for a water. The instructions on their website say you can’t bring any outside food or drink, so I didn’t even bring a water. But when I arrived, I saw that others had refillable bottles, and the place had plenty of water stations for you to refill. They should change the guidance. Otherwise, we enjoyed it a lot and spent several hours there, and would recommend!

Very cool! Definitely worth it. The museum was rich with history and had many fun things to see. The surrounding area in North Harbor is also great for picnicking and hanging out. A must see for anyone in San Diego. Plenty of parking and near the airport.

My husband and I went last Sunday. It had been years since we have visited and the museum had new exhibits. We initially intended to only stay for 2 hours and we stayed for a little over 3 hours since we had a limit of 3 hours for parking. This place is massive and had lots of history. Walking this ship gave a lot of insights to what our brave military men/women live every single day. It is great place to visit for the entire family.

Amazing experience for families! The volunteers are wonderful with kids; knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Our boys earned there wings answering the junior questions along the tour and they even have a kids audio tour. They can even go inside planes on the flight deck. The boat is extensive and you could easily spend all day there. There is a cafe on board with kid food options. We went on a Monday and found easy parking on the pier. You can exit and re-enter the ship if needed to grab lunch or snacks. We purchased tickets in advance (city pass) and did not have to wait in the ticket line.

I love National Parks and I feel Yosemite can be one of the most beautiful parks that I have ever visited. The first day was kind of rainy even though we enjoy the park, the se one day was full of snow and last day was a beautiful sunny day. Each day a new and a different scenario. I really appreciate that the Park was pretty wheelchair accessible and my son enjoyed the park as much as us. The Park is easy to navigate. Was an unforgettable trip that I will recommend to anyone.

The national park scenery is breathtaking, it is beyond words. We loved our visit, the sheer vastness, gigantic trees, the stunning waterfalls, the fact that clouds drift by where your standing so close you could touch them. The whole experience was amazing and it took sometime to sink in just how beautiful this place is. I will always remember my visit. Take waterproof clothing it can be wet and cold.

Beautiful. Start hikes early if you are trying to beat crowds or find any sort of parking especially on holiday weekends/summers. The mist trail was beautiful, loop is closed at the moment. Be mindful of the safety signs, they exist for a reason.

Visited Yosemite National Park during my first visit to the state of California and it was worth it. The view is absolutely stunning! There are amazing hiking trails if you’re up for it. And the waterfalls, unforgettable. The water remains cold all year round. Just dip your feet and feel it. The park is well maintained and offers something for everyone especially nature lovers. There may be a lot of people there but you can still have a wonderful time. Highly recommend!

They have sunshine, happiness, and bears. Don’t pet the bears. The trees are Thicc, the rocks are Thicc, and most of the waterfalls are also pretty Thicc. Unless it’s too hot. 10/10 would recommend.

This place is gorgeous! You could easily spend multiple days here. Between the different sights, hiking, and just relaxing in the water. It is one of the biggest national parks I’ve been too. Remember to bring lots of water though and do your research if you are hiking. It is hot in the summer!

Big hill. Very big hill. One of the bigger hills. Some would say a steep hill. Climbed the uppa falls, 1812 meters to the top. Nice stroll, took me 5 hours. Had a maccies afterwards. Any hikers looking to climb this I recommend not doing it on all fours, or wear some gloves if you do. Bring swimming trunks, you can swim at the top, don’t use it as a slide otherwise it’ll be the last slide you use. Apparently you can climb the face of the hill, didn’t see anyone doing it. Head a lot of people saying they would. All bark no bite. No bears spotted, made me sad. 10/10 experience, 9/10 with no bears.

Absolutely stunning luxury home! From the moment you arrive, the property feels like a private resort. The architecture is beautiful, the outdoor spaces are incredible, and the pool and multiple lounge areas make it perfect for relaxing or entertaining. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, spacious, modern, and exceptionally well maintained. The views, privacy, and attention to detail really make this place stand out. Overall experience was amazing. The availability and ease of the getting in and out of the parks and downtown makes it worth it. The rooms are very comfortable and its Disney so customer service was top notch. The room was said to be ready but when we got to the room they were still cleaning up with room service – no biggie but it was literally the only thing that was not 100%

I’ve had the privilege of staying here a few times since it opened, and have always had an amazing time. The cast members here are simply the best of the best, and always made my family and I feel welcome. The lobby is immaculate, and the details all around are truly stunning. We had a view overlooking Grizzly Peak and it was always fun watching the park come alive as the sun rose in the morning. The DVC area is a bit of a walk, but very nice as well. I’ve never stayed in the DVC section myself, but had a family member who did and showed us around. If you can, I’d highly recommend splurging and staying here. There’s nothing like going on Grizzly River Rapids multiple times in a row, getting drenched, and being a short walk to your hotel room to shower and change and pop back into the park via your own private entrance. Especially in the morning. I love walking in and getting a head start on nearby rides that are a bit of a walk from the main entrance. One of my favorite details of the resort is the stained glass doors at the entrance. If you ever have a chance to stop and admire them, do. They’re gorgeous, and similar imagery is sprinkled throughout the resort. This hotel is truly a work of art.

PROS: – LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Within California Adventure Park. You get tired or need to change, you just walk on over to your hotel room! The absolute best!! – Cleanliness. Turndown service is free. – Room service and restaurant food did not disappoint. Fresh food. Try the room service spaghetti!! The best I’ve ever had. Room service was faster than other places I’ve stayed at. – park views from the hidden terraces – if you book through Disney directly you get a travel extras package with discounts to some shops and restaurants. You also get a premium lanyard and pin (while supplies last) – knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful staff – free tours of the hotel for guests – stunning architecture and lobby design – live music in the lobby – gift shop with everything from Disney items down to Ben Gay for the aches and pains. – Beautiful pools. Slide pool for the kiddos. CONS – no parking structure right next to hotel. If you don’t do valet, you will have a walk. – no water bottles in your room. Take your own larger water bottle to fill up for your morning coffee. – non guests are allowed in the main lobby area as well. When you want to go down and enjoy the rocking chairs by the fireplace or leather couches, it is pretty packed. Some days we couldn’t find a seat to sit and listen to the piano playing. – It is pricey, but you get what you pay for. – restaurant we wanted to eat at was under construction..call before you go.

We stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa to celebrate our engagement, and it was the perfect place for such a special milestone. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, and filled with the Disney magic that makes memories last a lifetime. From the stunning craftsman-style lobby and cozy fireplace to the beautiful details throughout the resort, everything feels warm and welcoming. The location is unbeatable, with easy walking access to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. The dedicated entrance into Disney California Adventure is such a convenient perk. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and have a cozy retreat-like feel after a long day in the parks. We loved coming back to a relaxing space while still being right in the middle of the magic. The cast members were wonderful overall and added to the special feeling of our engagement celebration. We did have one disappointing moment during our stay—my husband had arranged for flowers to be delivered to our room as a surprise to celebrate our engagement, but unfortunately they were not brought up to the room and were later found sitting in the back area. It was a small detail, but it was a meaningful one, and it was sad to miss that special surprise during such an important celebration. We hope future stays have stronger communication around special requests and deliveries. The dining options, atmosphere, and attention to detail throughout the hotel make it a truly special Disney experience. Despite that one hiccup, we still loved our time at the Grand Californian and appreciate the beauty and magic of the resort. The Grand Californian will always hold a special place in our hearts. It was the perfect backdrop for celebrating one of the happiest moments of our lives, and we can’t wait to return.

A stunningly beautiful modern museum with great views of Los Angeles. It’s designed by architect Richard Meier and built with Italian travertine stone. The galleries need time to peruse. They house European art – paintings and sculptures. It’s free to enter, but you need to reserve parking online. Nearly all of the outside areas are accessible. Students from nearby UCLA are known to come study here for a change of scene.

This is the first place I went as a first time, Los Angeles visitor, and it was absolutely stunning. The grounds were huge and there was so much you could explore. While the architecture is impressive I think that the landscaping is some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. The backside also offered incredible views of Los Angeles. Of course the art collections were great as well. I think this is a must do activity if you’re visiting Los Angeles for the first time.

Stunning original artwork! Perched on top of a landscaped mountain, the Getty Center truly delivers on its promise to provide relevant artwork. The Center is full of inspiring artwork by incredible artists. It was easy to get inspired and swept away by the workmanship, vision and style of great craftspeople. I was fortunate enough to get to see original artwork by Rene Magritte, Van Gogh and Claude Monet – some of my favorite artists. The ride up on the tram is special (worth the wait) and the landscapes areas are really well maintained. The views of the valleys are spectacular. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. All in all – a very special experience.

Hands down one of the most incredible museum experiences in Southern California! From the ride up the hill on the tram to the spectacular views of Los Angeles, the setting alone is worth the trip. The architecture and the Central Garden are absolutely gorgeous, and the art collection is world-class—seeing Van Gogh’s Irises up close is unforgettable. Best of all, general admission is completely free! Just make sure to reserve your timed entry ticket online in advance and be prepared to pay for parking. Plan to spend at least a few hours here exploring the galleries and walking through the outdoor gardens!

Another major LA tourist destination. Free admission but requires timed entry reservations online. Parking in the garage is $25 for the day and then you’ll take a free tram up to the Getty. Beautiful central garden with stunning views of the city skyline from above. A few of the exhibits were closed when we went but the collection of artwork we did see were nice. This place is huge and if everything was open would’ve taken many hours to walk through. I loved the garden and the variety of plants and flowers they had. Definitely a once and done type of thing. Relatively busy on a Wednesday morning.

The Getty Center is such a unique and unforgettable art experience perched high on a mountain top overlooking Los Angeles. Getting there via the tram ride up the hill already feels special and sets the tone for the visit. This is actually my third time visiting, and every single time it feels even more memorable and unique than before. The combination of world-class art, striking modern architecture, and beautifully maintained gardens makes it a place you can keep coming back to. The drone view is absolutely breathtaking as well, seeing the entire complex set against the city and hills is truly spectacular. A great picture really is worth a thousand words. On top of everything, admission is free (you just need to reserve tickets in advance), which makes it even more incredible as a cultural experience.

Amazing museum with beautiful art and gorgeous gardens. Highly recommend for a visit. Famous artists/art, antique furniture, diverse colorful gardens. Great for a date or tourist visit. Ideal place to have a picnic on the grassy hills and overlook the garden and city. They have a cafe and restaurant/bar onsite as well if you’re choosing to have a meal or drinks. The tram that takes you up from the parking area is pretty cool. Free entry only pay for parking.

We loved our stay at Palm Valley Country Club. This apartment was very clean, beautifully decorated and well-stocked. Everything we needed was there; toiletries, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels and cleaning supplies. The towels and bed sheets were crisp and clean. The property itself is beautiful with sunlight all day long on the patio, and a great view of the golf course and mountains behind. The AC was a little temperamental — but the management team sent someone in very quickly to resolve. If you want to use the gym, ensure you ask the team to activate your guest passes ahead of your stay. It took us a while to get these organised. Overall, it’s a fabulous property and perfectly located within Palm Valley Country Club — a 10 minute walk to the clubhouse, golf club, tennis courts, fitness centre and other facilities. There is a coffee shop on Ralph’s grocery store a short 5 minute drive away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone!

Our stay at the resort was amazing. We had a great time. Our room came with all the essentials we needed to have a wonderful vacation. We enjoyed using the pool and spa as well as walking every morning around the beautiful grounds where the plant and vegetation were well kept. Took stunning photos by all the gorgeous flowers and sprouting bushes. Spent the end of the evening curled up around the fire enjoying games of scrabble. An excellent way to put an end to the night after full days of sightseeing. Went on amazing excursions to Joshua Tree National Park, the Aerial tramway and the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens were just as few of our awesome adventures. We had the best stay, this condo is in the perfect location a couple blocks from el paseo (walkable to many shops and restaurants) and it was fully stalked and extremely clean. Very convenient location near El Paseo for nice restaurants and shops. The unit itself was nice, very clean, with full-size fridge and the welcome bottle of wine and water were nice touches. No adjoining room noise. Bed was very comfortable. Nice pool and tennis just steps from unit also very nice. Only issues: -the covered parking spot is not close to the unit (not even in the same parking lot area) so I never even saw it and parked in front of the unit. This was fine in April but suboptimal in hotter months -WiFi went out briefly several times, no big deal -no washcloths among the towels (which were nice quality towels) -washer and dryer are in the building but not the unit which was not clear on the website -tennis center has recently been sold and has lost majority of members so no drills/clinics available which is really why I chose to stay here. One of the pros (Art) did give me a 1 hr lesson each morning which was great but I was hoping for more social play Overall, a nice stay and very convenient location but tennis experience was disappointing.

One of the most interesting places to visit in San Francisco! We really enjoyed the whole experience. There is an audio guide available in Russian, which was a great bonus and made the visit even more enjoyable. We didn’t make a reservation in advance and simply bought our tickets on-site. There was enough room for all visitors on the ferry, both on the way there and on the return trip. The entire visit took about 3 hours, including the ferry ride. There is plenty to see and explore, and the ferry ride itself is part of the experience. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to San Francisco. I highly recommend visiting!

Visiting Alcatraz Island was easily one of the highlights of our trip. My wife and I had an amazing experience from start to finish. The ferry ride over offers incredible views of the San Francisco skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the bay, making the trip itself worth it. Once on the island, the history is fascinating. Walking through the old prison and listening to the self guided audio tour really brings the stories of the inmates and guards to life. You can explore the cell blocks, solitary confinement, the recreation yard, and so many other areas while learning about famous inmates and the prison’s history. It is incredibly well done and keeps you engaged the entire time. The scenery is just as impressive as the history. The views from the island are absolutely breathtaking, and there are so many great photo opportunities. It is hard to believe such a beautiful place once housed one of the most famous prisons in the world. Everything was well organized, the staff was friendly, and the island was clean and easy to explore at your own pace. If you are visiting San Francisco, this is a must do attraction. My wife and I had an awesome time and would recommend it to anyone.

Great experience! We booked the tour 5 months in advance to make sure we secured a spot for our visit as we didn’t want to miss out. The ferry ride was quick, but it was packed! There were a lot of people. Once on the island you could space out away from the crowds in parts. The view of the bay, the bridge and island were incredible. The history in this place is astonishing! We did the self guided audio tour which was great as we could take our time. If you’re visiting San Francisco, Alcatraz Island is not to be missed! Worth every cent!

Right then… picture this. A freezing boat ride across the bay, a lump of rock in the middle of nowhere, and a prison full of blokes who thought they were a lot cleverer than they actually were. Turns out, it’s absolutely brilliant. The audio tour is the real star of the show. You’re not just looking at empty cells—you’ve got former guards and inmates telling the story in your ears, and before long you’re wandering around thinking, «How on earth did anyone fancy escaping from this?» The place has a proper atmosphere. You can almost hear the clanging doors, the shouted orders, and the constant reminder that freedom was only a mile away… but might as well have been the Moon. The views back across San Francisco are worth the ticket alone, which feels almost unfair considering how miserable the inmates must have felt staring at them every day. Everything was well organised, the ferry ran like clockwork, and for what you get, it’s cracking value. Give yourself a few hours, take your time, and don’t rush it. If you’re in San Francisco and you skip Alcatraz, you’ve mugged yourself off. Five stars.

The Alcatraz museum and tour were absolutely fascinating and easily one of the highlights of our trip. There is so much history packed into one relatively small island, and actually walking through the cellblocks and seeing the cells, dining hall, and other areas makes the stories you’ve heard about Alcatraz feel much more real. The audio tour was especially well done and added a lot to the experience without making it feel like you were sitting through a history lecture. Between the prison history, the incredible views of San Francisco, and simply being able to explore such an iconic place, it was well worth the visit. Definitely something I’d recommend doing at least once. Just don’t miss the boat back.

Brought my guests here on multiple occasions and it is worth it. You get an audio guided tour, have time to explore on your own, educational videos, live talks, a garden, great views of the city and bridges, and 3 optional times to get back on the ferry. Incredibly windy and cold. Recommend booking in advance, although there is a standby line available. The hot dog vendors right outside are bomb.

Spectacular scenery, trees and hiking. Beautiful National Park, numerous venues cover a large area. Lots of wonderful scenic drives and great hiking trails. A definite «don’t miss this» National Park!

Awe-inspiring. Everything is so large that it makes you feel tiny. Even the clovers are huge. Be sure to see the elk and to pick out a trail or two. We took the Karl Knapp trail to the Big Tree and the Cathedral trail back to the visitor center. Cathedral was a bit more effort, but beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful place. The towering redwood trees are incredible, and the scenery feels completely different from anywhere else. The trails are well worth exploring, and it’s a perfect place to slow down, enjoy nature, and take in the views. Definitely a must-visit!

Great trip. Redwood National and State Parks, National park, California, United States. Five stars, a week ago, 33 views. On a bike trip and went into the land of the giants road, wow what an experience to see these giant trees. We rode north from San Francisco on three Harleys, you can see us in the photos, the ocean cliff shot near Trinidad, foggy Pacific behind us, and my bike parked downtown in Ferndale. The road into the giants is Avenue of the Giants, 31 miles of canopy, light barely reaching the ground. Standing next to a trunk like the one in my third photo, bark thick as a mattress, wider than my bike is long, you feel tiny. We walked Stout Grove, Lady Bird Johnson, air cool, silent except for creaking wood. Motel parking lot in Crescent City with the bikes loaded as in the fourth image, we were tired but buzzing. No crowds, easy pull-offs, well marked trails. Bring layers, rain gear, boots, and take your time, these trees are two thousand years old. Respect the roots, stay on trails. If you ride, this is a must do stretch of Highway 101. Bucket list ride checked, already talking about doing it again.

I was fortunate to spend 2 months out here for work. I mean amazing! I don’t have the words for all the things I saw. There are many different variations of the Park to explore. The one which I am showing here is in the Park. The coast with its ocean, beaches, and forest is my review. I hope you like the pics. Yes, I actually collected 213 sand dollars for my daughter.

Both the national and state parks in the state of California are top notch. This is an extra special treat as it’s jointly managed by the state and federal parks systems. The Redwoods are hard to describe and photos will never do them justice. This area of the state is unbelievably gorgeous from the sheer density of beautiful trees to the cliffs of the Pacific. Not to mention the wild Elk and other animals. Everyone should visit here and gather an understanding of how truly special these trees and this area are.

An unforgettable place to experience the majestic redwood trees. It’s amazing to see these towering trees, some with trunks so massive that they’ve survived forest fires despite being hollowed out. The walking trails are beautiful and peaceful, making it a perfect day out in nature. Parking and basic restroom facilities are available, making the visit comfortable and convenient. Highly recommended to go to visiting centre first for the video before going for the same

My few nights at the Green Tortoise were brilliant and really added to the whole vibe of my San Fransisco trip! The staff were friendly, helpful and worldly. Before I even arrived, they were willing to change my stay dates (having spent an extra night in Denver beforehand due to a Rail Pass mix-up) and I stayed an additional night for the same rate. There’s breakfast included and events where there’s also dinner available, with Sinchai the convenience store chap very near with beer deals just for Tortoisers. Next time, I’ll hopefully make use of the extensive cooking facilities and will be back in the on-site sauna again soon, I hope. Keep doing what your doing, folks! Highly recommended!

The Green Tortoise is ideally located in the Fisherman’s Wharf area. It is close to sight-seeing locations. It is also easy to use the bus system. There are several bus routes that take you to various parts of the city. It has a relaxed vibe with music playing afternoons. The front staff are courteous and take care of any questions you may have. Breakfast was provided and easy to prepare. I would recommend The Green Tortoise to any traveler.

What a great spot. I stayed here with my boyfriend for 2 nights during a road trip stop in San Francisco. We brought a car and had to work around this, the parking structures nearby are pricey but safe. We ended up using public transit for the extent of our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions. The interior and ambience in this place is so incredible. Our room was comfortable and quiet, the fan worked well and I appreciated the sink and mirror included. The shared bathrooms were clean and always stocked. I loved spending time in the common areas and took advantage of the post card dropoff in the lobby. Docked a star because the free breakfast items are never refilled/restocked once they are put out as far as I could tell, and as late risers there were usually slim pickings for my boyfriend and I, even arriving an hour before breakfast closed. Otherwise, our experience was really lovely.

Wonderful hostel. Felt safe and all my belongings were intact. I met amazing people and it was a good location to get places. Also free breakfast and free wifi. And a kitchen. I stayed in the 4 girls only dorm and had a great experience there. Loved the room #23 for the view of the city.

Great experience! All that an adventurer can look forward to! Since I knew I wasn’t going to have internet when I got to states I printed out the instructions to get there and it was super easy! Between little Italy and Chinatown so lots of awesome places to visit and eat all around. Such an iconic place! Full of histor, fun activities and packed with interesting people! Great breakfast and cool accommodations like clean bathrooms and beds. Looking forward to visiting this turtle shell again ❤️

(Skip to the end for the issues.) First: despite sharing the name and the same dorm room esthetics, this place is not affiliated with Green Tortoise Seattle. That being said, my experience here was in the same range of good as it was at GT Seattle. The main room is gorgeous – high ceilings, lots of seating, free pool table, a few free arcade games. The kitchen is pretty big, plenty of storage. The dorm rooms and bathrooms are perfectly acceptable for what they are, which is renovated spaces in a very old building. Tailor your expectations accordingly. I always found a clean bathroom to use, but a few of them were missing enough hooks for my clothes & other things. The location is Chinatown, not dangerous but def grungy. BIGGEST ISSUE: I’m surprised this hasn’t been addressed after so many years of operation, but at least in my dorm, the top bunks have no privacy. The bed divider curtain is like a foot tall (see pic). GT Seattle’s top bunks had 3-foot-tall curtains – real privacy. NICE TO HAVE: They had self-serve coffee & tea in the kitchen, help yourself anytime. I appreciated that they had caffeine-free tea as well, but what would’ve really made me happy was hot chocolate powder. That would’ve been really nice. NICE TO HAVE: I’m naturally comparing this with GT Seattle – sorry to say Seattle one has better breakfast: unlimited eggs! And more food choices. No eggs here, just bagels with spreads, yogurt with a few toppings, oatmeal, and fruits. All in all, still happy with my experience and would stay again.
