Rosy Mantella

Amazing place to take your fur babies! Was able to make a same day walk in appointment and they had an opening within the hour. Only $65 for the general exam is great! I spent only $130 for my cat to get looked at and prescribed antibiotics. Staff is great and explains things super clearly! Thor and I are grateful, thank you!

Staff was friendly and patient with my two grand-dogs. And of course they were up to no good. Still the staff was very accommodating and patient with their Vet visit. We were in and out in within a hour of our appointment. Grateful for the improvement with time management and visits that are adequate within reasonable timing. Just remember to take one at a time. Thank you. Well done to all!

Always friendly, caring, and helpful. We take all of our pets there. (We have 5 dogs and 7 cats.) They treat them with love and kindness. When we had to put down one of our dogs, they showed so much compassion and patience. I recommend them to everyone.

Abby Pet Hospital has been more than just kind and compassionate. I have now had to take 3 senior pets to be put to forever rest by them, and their kind hearted staff has helped me through the process with patience and grace every time. Thank you to everyone at Abby pet hospital for making such a difficult time as smooth and easy as you possibly could. I am grateful for you all. 💛

The wait time wasn’t long, staff was friendly checking in and when checking out, very attentive techs when we were behind closed doors, my pup was very comfortable and left happy. They got busy in waiting room and still continued great service. Our vet was also was wonderful and handled my pup with care and sweetness.

I can not say enough good things about this place! I live about an hour away and my vet did not have availability that day. Since it was urgent I took my puppy here and thwy treated him so well! The staff was very friendly to both of us. They took such good care of my puppy and expla ed everything to me in detail . My puppy even got a little bandana from the staff. The price was very reasonable for what was done and safe to say I will definitely be switching vets and driving an hr away to keep taking him there.

I’ve only been here twice but I’ve not had any bad experience with them. It’s been Very professional and it’s pretty quiet for the most part. My Nurse was Priscilla, Gave me all the information I needed with no nonsense. She was very professional and sweet with my dog and I and made him feel very comfortable and safe when checking him out. 10/10

This was one of the best emergency vet experiences I’ve had. And I’ve had lots of dogs over the years and plenty of terrible experiences. 😂 the check-in process was quick. Jeremy, our technician , was great and explained everything . We had a nine week old puppy that was having a lot of GI issues and they took care of everything quickly and the pricing was fair and not as exorbitant as other emergency rooms we’ve been to. Highly recommend!

Jeremy was amazing I felt super confident with my dog in her hands. She made me and my dog feel super safe I highly recommend asking for her when you come in! In general, I’ve had great experiences here at this location, you’re able to come in at any time and they take care of everything. They also can alter. The price debating on what your dog needs 100% which I really appreciate it as well. Great place!🫶🏽

The veterinary assistant that helped us was Indira O., not only is she knowledgeable and professional, but she also has a fantastic personality that instantly puts both pets and owners at ease. She explains procedures clearly, walks you through what to expect, and makes sure you fully understand everything before moving forward. Her attention to detail is outstanding, she carefully reviews medical history, double checks information, and ensures nothing is overlooked. It’s obvious she truly cares about the well being of every animal that comes through the door.

We had excellent experience with OakVet Hospital! In the last couple of years our 15yo cat got diagnosed with kidney disease and irritable bowel disease, and Dr Katrina Mathews (internal medicine) has been an excellent partner through all of it. Things that we especially appreciated: 1. They have their own lab, so they can get the chem panel done during the check-in and we get to discuss it right there during the visit (no additional visits just to draw blood and send it somewhere). 2. Our cat is a spicy one, there’s been more than a couple vet visits with no luck drawing his blood. OakVet technicians were always successful at that, and always kind about it. 2. Very reasonable pricing. 3. Dr Katrina Mathews is so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. She’d walk us through what’s happening, recommend various options of managing the issues, respond to concerns, and always do it in a kind, patient manner. Really appreciate her and miss her already! (we had to move a couple months ago) All in all, would definitely recommend!

I have never had a kinder experience then I did at OakVet! My kitten had an unexpected abscess Labor Day weekend. I freaked out because I am low income and every place kept turning me to a ER, which in my mind translated to financial death. Dr. VanGeem and the entire staff at OakVet were completely willing to work with me. Before they did anything they ran it through me! They even tried assessing him to see if it was something that could have waited. They never once made me feel judged or less than for my financial ability. They tried working with me because they genuinely cared for my cat’s well-being as well as mine. Before picking my kitten up, they called me to let me know what stuff I would need so I had time to run to the store before he came home so I could make it as comfortable for him as possible. They even called me the next day purely to check in on my kitten and make sure his recovery was going well. I wish they could be his primary vet because I don’t want to go anywhere else. I’ve had to go to many different vets in my lifetime and I’ve never been treated as well as I was by Dr. VanGeem and his staff. I cant recommend this place more! I will never go to a corporate vet again!

OakVet treated my sweet girl when she presented with internal bleeding. They diagnosed her with primary ITP and gave her the best care possible. My Dani girl ultimately passed from her condition, and the team at OakVet were kind and caring throughout our entire journey. I went late last night because my miniature dachshund had swallowed one of my AirPods 🤦🏽‍♀️ EVERYONE at OakVet was supportive and communicative. It was a scary experience, but I’m grateful I chose them to help my dog. The facility is also extremely clean and the waiting room is set up for long waits. Thank you, OakVet. My dog is now back to normal without a battery in her stomach.

I cannot recommend this animal hospital highly enough. I arrived with a wrong diagnosis, after my dog was seen by multiple vets who couldn’t figure out what was wrong, and he was close to dying. Dr. Funes went above and beyond for him. She made what felt like an impossible diagnosis and turned the situation around. I’m so grateful, not just for her skill, knowledge and preparation, but also for her humanity and how I was treated throughout one of the scariest experiences I’ve had as a pet owner. Everyone at the hospital is genuinely kind, and they treated both me and Lillo with real, genuine care every step of the way. On top of that, the place is incredibly efficient: test results come back remarkably fast, which means they can move quickly to start treatment as soon as it’s needed. The combination of professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care is remarkable. I wouldn’t trust my dog’s care to anyone else.

My vet recommended I take my senior dog, Molly, to see Dr. Sylvia Funes. Molly was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease and one of Dr. Funes areas of expertise is endocrine disorders. We found Dr. Funes to be extremely knowledgable and upfront about Molly’s prognosis. Her Cushing’s is caused by bilateral tumors on her adrenal glands, probably cancerous. Dr. Funes started her on Vetoryl and has consistently emailed me, checking on her condition and reaction to the medication. I am very pleased with all the interactions we have had with staff at Oakvet. I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Funes.

Dr. Funes has done two rhinoscopies and one endoscopy on my golden retriever. I trust her whole heartedly with my pup. She’s incredibly kind and caring and followed up to make sure Finn was recovering well. The staff here are also incredibly kind and caring, and I cannot imagine how hard it must be to witness beloved animals in dire need rushed in day after day. Be prepared for long wait times if it’s not a life threatening emergency, but the quality of care is so top notch that I will gladly wait here instead of driving somewhere else with a shorter wait time.

I’ve been too scared to post this bc I’m afraid the universe would make my fur baby sick again but I really did want to share how grateful I am for the staff of Washington blvd animal hospital. I emitted my kitty, Rin, April 12 for vomiting and loss of appetite. She ended up having to be hospitalized for two nights because she was severely dehydrated. She was later diagnosed with triaditis and we left with a treatment plan that lasted 6 weeks. Today she is doing so much better and I hope she will stay as healthy as can be for years to come . The staff of Washington blvd were so caring, attentive, and informative during this process and I thank them so very much.

This pet hospital truly goes above and beyond. The veterinarians are incredibly thorough, taking the time to explain everything clearly and answer all of our questions without rushing us. You can genuinely feel how much they care—not just about the pets, but about the families who love them. They treat our fur babies with so much kindness, patience, and compassion. It gives us real peace of mind knowing our loved ones are in such capable and loving hands. The entire staff is warm, attentive, and professional. We’re so grateful to have found a place we can fully trust with our pets’ care. 🐾

I came here as an emergency with my dog, we had no appointment and just walked in. The staff there were absolutely wonderful. They took me seriously from the moment we arrived and showed an urgency with my dog’s symptoms asap. They took us back and there was always someone coming into the room to explain what was happening and what the next steps may be. The vet was so wonderful and explained everything perfectly and answered all my questions. The pricing here for an emergency visit is very reasonable and they provided me pricing for all treatments and gave me options on what I wanted to do. From the front desk to the doctor, they provided us with wonderful treatment. I’m so happy I found them and know that they will be there in any emergency I may have with my dog.

Sage staff and doctors AWESOME as ever. Have been coming to Sage Redwood city for our pets for 6 years. They had extended one of our dogs life for 2 more years. She was living these her last 2 years as if nothing was wrong with her. The surgeons are so caring along with the staff. All my dogs actually enjoy going into the building, unlike some other offices. My current baby had knee surgery, lady week She is doing well, sleeping with one of her babies

We were referred to Sage by our Veterinary Surgeon in Freemont, as they’d be able to do an Ultrasound to access his Kidneys. Arriving after Midnight, they admitted our 7.5lb baby & got him started on IV Fluids which probably saved his life!!! Vets are expensive these days but it’s wonderful to have Caring Professionals available Around the Clock to care for our Sweet little Fur Babies!!! Thx Everyone at Sage!!!!

The staff at Sage are very kind and helpful. Once in the exam room, Daisy listened to my pet’s detailed history and was very gentle and sweet with my dog. It was so nice meeting Dr. Kaufman, she has a great calming energy, is very knowledgeable and asked questions about my dog’s health/history that helped refine the plan of attack for my dog’s care. Definitely a wonderful experience with the team at Sage.

So thankful to have a top tier facility like Sage nearby. My husky puppy had to spend the weekend in the hospital after ingesting a bottle of carprofen. I was able to go visit him and take him for a walk while he was there. Got updates from the team every morning, and really was never too anxious because I knew he was in the best place possible. When we went back for follow up labs, he immediately recognized a couple of techs who took care of him and they came out to say hello and play for like 5-10min. He was SO excited to see them and they obviously had built a great relationship and I thought that was really cool and it was so meaningful to see. Thank you Sage!

My cat was seen for Ultra Sound at Concord and had to have emergency surgery at Redwood City Sage he had a mass in his intestines that caused a hole and he was septic. They were great and saved my babies life. They didn’t care that he was a hisser and spit at them they actually said it was a good sign that he was strong. I took him to Sage because I know they have all the life saving equipment needed on hand and my regular vet did not. Smiles

Dr. Vivian Lau is simply the best veterinary neurologist in the Bay Area. She has cared for my perfect girl Daisy—a giant breed who fought severe drug-resistant epilepsy since age two, guiding us through a complex medical journey with unmatched expertise, humility, and compassion. Throughout the years, Dr. Lau always put Daisy’s quality of life first. She stayed at the forefront of the latest treatment developments, stuck to effective treatment plans, and guided me away from any low-effectiveness medications when I was willing to try anything to help. The whole hospital staff adored Daisy so much that my girl loved going to the hospital, she wanted to go to the back room and showed me how proud that she had «friends» there each time. Her entire department reflects Dr. Lau’s patient-first philosophy, offering wonderful bedside manner, genuine kindness, and proactive support. Thanks to Dr. Lau’s exceptional care, Daisy lived a safe, joyful life well past nine years old—a true miracle for a giant breed fighting severe drug-resistant epilepsy and, later, a courageous battle over a year with bone cancer. Daisy left the world peacefully and pain-free. Daisy was truly loved, she loved all two-legged angels and this whole world. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Lau and her incredible team for making my beautiful girl’s miraculous life possible. If you need a brilliant, deeply trustworthy neurologist who truly cares, Dr. Lau is a true blessing to pet parents.

I do believe the front desk needs major improvement in showing empathy and sympathy when we walk up to the desk looking for emergency help. I work in healthcare as well and it’s important to show that. I want to thank Dr. Tower and the team, Melissa, Mariah, and Diana at Redlands Animal Emergency, for giving me updates on my little baby boy. They treated my baby boy Winston with such tenderness, dignity, and skill when he was struggling to breathe with other complications and suffering. I’m glad that Dr. Tower noticed something was missing when she reviewed Winston’s chart. Even though everything looked OK, she recommended that my wife and I get a CT, and we got answers. And that’s what we were mainly looking for answers instead of people just throwing medications at him. Very intelligent and thorough physician she is. In an incredibly painful moment, she provided gentle comfort care and compassion, and communicated clearly with my wife and I. Very sadly to see my poor baby boy go. Again, thank you Dr.Tower for everything you have done for my baby boy he’s not suffering anymore and we got closure by getting answers.

We have been a few times to Veterinary Emergency Center of Redlands for our mini Aussie Lucy. They saved her many years ago from pneumonia. Sadly after almost 14 years we had to say goodbye to our beloved Lucy on this memorial day early morning. The staff was very caring and compassionate as was the area where we said goodbye to Lucy. We love her and miss her everyday. I just wanted to publicly thank the staff that morning for easing one of the worst things we’ve had to do. I don’t know if we will ever get another doggie, but if we do it’s nice to know we will have great care near by.

I’ve visited this clinic multiple times with both my previous and current pets, and every experience has been positive. The staff consistently makes me feel like my animals are a priority, treating us with genuine compassion and care. Recently, my dog needed emergency surgery after eating something harmful and had to stay under their care for three days. Throughout that time, the frequent updates from the staff were incredibly reassuring and brought me a lot of peace of mind. The doctors and veterinary technicians truly treated my pet like their own. While other places may be more affordable, my past experiences at low-cost clinics often left me feeling like just another number, and that my pet wasn’t a priority. Because of the level of care and attention we receive here, I will absolutely continue coming back for all of my pet’s needs.

My cat was seen on an emergency basis for an extremely delicate and serious medical situation, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the care, compassion, and professionalism we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated both my cat and our family with kindness, patience, and genuine concern. The veterinary team took the time to carefully explain every step of the evaluation and treatment process, ensuring we understood our options during a very stressful and emotional time. Their expertise and attention to detail gave me confidence that my cat was receiving the best possible care. What stood out most was the compassion shown by every member of the team. They recognized how difficult the situation was and treated my cat with such gentleness and dignity. Emergency veterinary medicine can be overwhelming, but the staff made us feel supported and cared for throughout the entire experience. I am incredibly thankful for the dedication, skill, and empathy shown by everyone involved in my cat’s care. While I hope no pet owner ever has to face an emergency, I would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to anyone needing urgent veterinary care. Thank you for being there when we needed you most.

Dear VECR Dr.’s, Techs, and Staff, I want to thank you for showing me what a compassionate vet hospital should look like. You all set the bar really high. From the moment we walked in the doors, the many hours in the waiting/visit rooms, to our way out we were greeted with care. Throughout our long process I never once felt like this was just a job or going through the motions. With the days and hours spent in your facility, I also got to witness your staff with other pets. That compassion was not just my experience but every pet and person who walked through those doors I saw the same care. During our experience, we were informed of the care our baby would need, what the next steps would be and possible outcomes. When we had to leave her in your care for 72 hrs I was always being updated which helped me feel she was being cared for like I would care for her. Even when you could no longer care for her, you helped guide me. I want to thank you all so much for making me and my baby feel safe during this process. It was a very difficult time and the unknown was scary. Not that I didn’t feel this way about you guys already but when we had to transfer our care to another emergency vet hospital, it really opened my eyes and made me truly appreciate everything that you have done. The support from everyone at VECR went way above and beyond just vet care. Truly Truly love you all. Unfortunately our baby didn’t beat her IMHA battle after her second transfusion.

Cedar Vet Hospital was great! Our dog threw up 15 times, Abby Pet Hospital was at full capacity and couldn’t see Mable but suggested Cedar Vet. It was about 2 hours for the whole process of waiting and being seen, the Dr was great and the staff was great and friendly! Mable is a little reactive so we decided to muzzle her during the process, but now she is back to her silly self! Thank you Cedar Vet!

My little guy got extremely sick and we had to rush him to a vet and my nephew chose Cedar Veterinary hospital and thank God he did. They saw how bad Pancho was and rushed him to the back and started him on an IV before we even did paperwork and took the $650 deposit, they did urine, blood work and came to discover Pancho had OD on Meth and THC and got him on a charcoal treatment. They save my best friend, I really don’t know what I would have done if he died, Dr. Maggie and the Cedar Veterinary hospital staff are amazing. Thank You, Pancho is doing great and getting back to normal and we’ll be using Cedar Veterinary hospital for now on as Pancho vet for regular checkups.

Very impressed with the cremation service here at Cedar Vet Hospital. I paid around $235 and received a beautiful wooden box that’s secured with screws so my dog’s ashes can be safely placed in forever. I also got ink prints of his paws and nose along with a little bag of his fur and a gold name plate with his name engraved. It’s just more than I could ever imagine. 4 years ago I had to take a cat to the emergency vet and had paid for cremation services there along with the expensive bill. It was about $1500 and all I received was a tin can with paw prints. I’m very thankful that whichever company that they use for this service really thinks about all the keepsakes that owners would like to have. Thank you again!

Found on curb bottle fed 12 year old Bubbles had a damaged left eye. Previous results from cvh were satisfactory so I took her there. Dr. Hall offered to find a lower cost vet, Bubbles was my best friend so I gave them $1,800.00 and Bubbles. Hall removed the left eye and a bad tooth, I picked up my freind that night. 1/19/26 2/2/26 sutures an collar removed, 2/6/26 she scrached the site and collar and antibiotics were prescribed. 2/12/26 Bubbles had a nose bleed I gave her antibotics. 2/16/26 Bubbles had a nose bleed again I took her to her scheduled appointment. 2/16/26 Hall was not in so Bubbles was seen by Dr Nicolaas Reijne, I told him my concern and showed him pictures of the nose bleeds. His resolve was a in house thyroid and Enrofloxacin ,see Hall in one week. 2/17/26 5:30 pm Bubbles start eratic behavior I pick her up and she dies in my arms. I researched the nose bleeds, I should have been offered pin pointing the source, Imagine tests, lab work and specialist refferal. 2/23/26 went to my scheduled appointment. I told them Bubbles died and would like to talk to Dr Hall at my cost I needed answers. I was told she could not be bothered and I did not have animal by the front desk. I asked to talk to administration they were not in was the response. I was givin a email address to direct any questions. Dr Hall did call me the next day with NO ANSWERS. I lost my Bubbles by Cedar Vet Hospital and they could not be bothered. I am filing a complaint in detail to the states veternary licensing board, against all parties involved. I hope that others who felt wronged do the same. Thank for reading this reveiw. Ed

I have used this clinic a few times over the years and I’ve always been seen in a reasonable amount of time. I had to take my dog Penny twice this past weekend. Once was for lack of appetite that was a symptom of a greater problem that eventually led to her passing. The doctor was able to explain everything to us so well and answered all of our questions. We knew that Penny was at the end of her life and we had one more night to say goodbye. Unfortunately she started to have what looked like a seizure and we rushed her over to the clinic to put her to sleep. I was very scared that there would be a delay in administering the medications that would sedate and eventually euthanize her. They were able to get everything prepared so quickly and were able to help Penny transition. I didn’t get anyone’s name but everyone was very kind and helpful during not just this visit but all the other ones too. The tech even remembered Penny from before and said some kind words. Thank you for the work that you do. You all have made a difference in mine and my dogs’ lives.

We brought our very sick dog in over the weekend after his regular vet found that his kidneys were in very bad shape. Everyone from the front staff, the assistants, to the veterinarian was so kind and caring. Nobody rushed us and everyone showed us empathy and listened to us. After reviewing the labs we brought and examining our dog, the vet gently gave us her thoughts on what was happening and what the care plan could look like. She was honest and thorough, which really helped us decide what do to and know what to expect. They kept our dog for two days and implemented the care plan, and when we picked him up, he was like a new dog. I know fluids aren’t a miracle cure, but they gave our sweet boy relief and love, and now he has a better chance and hanging in there with us comfortably a bit longer. We are so thankful for everyone in that facility and for the care our dog received. Thank you from Tyson and his family!

Brought my cat in after having been at the vet and them telling me that they were closing and couldn’t take care of her, and recommended I go to an emergency vet veterinarian clinic. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew my cat was in great hands! Their care, compassion, time and communication were amazing! My cat was taken care of – the veterinarian explained everything to me, the vet assistant shared the aftercare plan, and my cat is home resting with a wonderful little doughnut around her neck. Highly recommend!

Excellent service! Friendly, helpful, and fast. My dog Maggie went into to Anaphylactic Shock after eating a bee. We had know idea how serious this was. I called the clinic and they told me to get her there immediately. Their knowledge, clear direction, and fast service saved my dog’s life! I will be forever grateful to the Clinic Staff.

My son and I are very grateful to the doctors, technicians, and staff at Animal Emergency Clinic for the excellent care they provided to my cat. A medical emergency with a beloved pet is frightening, but everyone was kind, compassionate, and professional from the moment we arrived. The team was attentive, took my concerns seriously, and kept me informed throughout the visit. They handled my cat with great care and patience, which helped put my mind at ease during a stressful situation. The entire staff demonstrated genuine concern for my pet’s well-being, and I truly appreciate their dedication and expertise. Thank you to everyone at Animal Emergency Clinic for the outstanding care and compassion you showed to both my cat and our family. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care.

I took my 8 month old kitten here after she was missing for half a day and she was weak and fluid coming from her nose. Everyone was very nice and professional. They got me in as soon as they could and although I was there a few hours, they kept me updated. The lobby is welcoming even supplying water, hot tea and coffee. There is even a TV with Disney movies playing for the children. Under the circumstances, it was a very pleasant experience. The prices were much more reasonable than other ER’s in the area. I hope it is not needed but if so, I will be back here for sure.

They are honest, professional, and friendly. They could have tried to upcharge me for X-rays but were honest and saved me a ton of money. I’ve been a few times and never walked out feeling like the fees were outrageous. One time I brought my HIGHLY reactive dog in. When I say HIGHLY it does not begin to do justice to level of freak out he is capable of. When he got him we thought he was dead. But really he was just that shutdown. He is happy now but still freaks out if you try to check anything on him. Taking him to the vet is a NIGHTMARE. They never once lost their patience with him. They were all so sweet. I drive from the high desert to go here. They are just that good.

If you have an emergency with one of your pets, this is the best place to go! I had to drive 40 minutes to get there and it was worth it. The best bedside manner and they were so caring and immediately brought my pet to the back. I have a small dog that had an abscess I was not aware of on her neck. They went out of their way to make her comfortable they explained everything in detail in a way I could understand and reassured me. They handled her with such care and answered every single question I had as well as all of my messages through text with pictures each day after. Follow up care was also great. I highly recommend them for emergencies or for regular veterinary care. The staff is exceptional!

I picked up Sugar off the street. It looked like she was abandoned and really sick (she couldn’t even keep her eyes open with the amount of mucus built up in her eyes) I didn’t think twice and took her to this clinic. They helped me out a ton – shout out to Dr. Connor and Vet Tech Tara. They’re very honest and flexible but most importantly they helped my little Sugar get back on her paws and now I have a lovely little kitten to add to my family.

We had to put our rescue pitty of 13 years down because she was having seizures and living a poor quality of life. From start to finish everyone we spoke to and worked with were compassionate, empathetic, and made sure our beloved dog was very cared for! THANK YOU for making a very hard day a tiny bit better with your outstanding staff!

From the moment the techs came and got my baby queen woods out the car to putting us in a room they were amazing. Putting our baby down was one of the hardest things we had to do. The doctor and lady’s at this office are compassionate and caring I definitely recommend them. I will be switching my other dog over to them for further care.

Service was a little slow but I don’t blame them I had a semi emergency. My dog scratched his rear end glands and was bleeding. I went on a Sunday and decided to come here as not many places were open. They were offering a free first exam. I let them know I wasn’t able to afford what the vet recommended and I was able to work with them on a more affordable option. I was at this location for 5hrs and was discharged with medication and instructions on how to care for my pet.

This was the first time I ever went to this location. I arrived shortly before 1am on 7/7/2026 to transport the tiny body of a 2 week old kitten that was found abandoned and my family and I tried our hardest to give him (Zeus, orange male) a fighting chance. He didn’t make it, despite doing EVERYTHING possible. I even took him to a more local vet hours prior and spared no expense to try and save his life. With tears in my eyes, they accepted his tiny body and waived any associated fees. I am grateful for that. They promised he would be treated humanely and cremated. I could not afford any additional costs (such as his cremains) as I spent so much to try to save him. The level of kindness, compassion and grace your employees showed me knows no bounds. Fly with the Gods, Zeus. You will not be forgotten.

We brought our newly adopted kitty from SPCA in that had been spayed on Friday for emergency. Only came here because SPCALA gave us a certificate to use for her first appointment. Her incision was opening up, she was drooling and running a fever. We were left in the waiting room for over an hour, with the kitty stressing out and trying to get out of her box. Not one employee tried to help or get her in sooner. The cat was under distress and they still kept us waiting. We ended up leaving and going to our regular vet Bixby Animal Hospital where they took her on IMMEDIATELY even though they were busy. Never again for VCA especially your location. Shame on you!

Dr. Ruppe was amazing! She took the time to explain everything in detail and helped me feel much more calm and reassured about my cat’s condition. I really appreciated how thorough they were, making sure all of my cat’s needs were clearly documented in the paperwork. It’s clear they genuinely care about their patients and their owners.

Horrible service. They made us wait 3 hours. They took our dog inside and misinformed us of what was to happen. The pimple was already popped but they called it an abscess . They said no need to cut just to clean and give antibiotics . Then they told us 30 min come to find out they never started and weren’t planning on it until later . Then they came out and said he needed to be sedated . For what ??? To clean around it. It all doesn’t make sense . This is after the original 3 hours. They said more serious injuries before ours but we found out the only doctor who was claiming to work on emergencies was doing her notes . How professional is this . They were rude and not friendly. They charged us and just didn’t want to do anything . They were misleading . And misinformed us. The doctors name is Mellisa Ferguson . Horrible I can’t express how horrible everything about her was. I don’t Recommend this place to anyone . She is very incompetent . We decided to leave . We don’t trust her with our dog

Lack of empathy and only interested in money. My dog had a wound and was bleeding severely. They asked for a $1800 deposit just to admit her. We waiting an hour with no information until we were told the bleeding had stopped but they would need another $3000 to continue operating on her and for blood transfusions. Money I didn’t have. No payment plan was offered. Letting her die was the only option. The nurse came up to me and said, «for the next dog, you should get an insurance plan». No sympathy card. No other options. Avoid this place at all costs if you love your pet.

Frequently asked questions about emergency vet clinics in California

What constitutes an emergency requiring a vet clinic?

Determining whether a situation constitutes an emergency at a veterinary clinic in California can seem daunting. Generally, conditions requiring immediate attention include severe pain, difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, seizures, collapse, ingestion of toxins, significant wounds, or any sudden and drastic change in behavior. Don't hesitate to seek professional advice; it’s always better to err on the side of caution. Many clinics have protocols for triage – they'll quickly assess the situation to prioritize care.

How do I find an emergency vet clinic near me?

Locating an emergency vet clinic near you is crucial when time is of the essence. Several resources can help. Start with a Google search using terms like "emergency vet California" or "24-hour vet near me." Utilize online directories such as Yelp or VetsNow. Many clinics also list their services and locations on their websites. Consider driving distance and availability – some clinics may have limited hours or require appointments even for emergencies.

What is the difference between an emergency vet clinic and a regular vet clinic?

While all vet clinics provide routine care, emergency vet clinics are specifically equipped to handle critical, life-threatening situations. They typically have round-the-clock staffing, advanced diagnostic equipment like CT scanners and ultrasound machines, and experienced veterinarians specializing in critical care. Regular clinics may be able to address less severe issues, but for true emergencies, an emergency clinic is the only option.

What services do emergency vet clinics typically offer?

Emergency vet clinics provide a comprehensive range of services for critical conditions. This includes stabilization and resuscitation, advanced imaging, surgery for trauma and internal emergencies, intensive care monitoring, medication administration, and diagnostic testing. They often specialize in treating conditions like foreign body ingestion, burns, and neurological emergencies. Their expertise can significantly improve the chances of survival and recovery.

How much does an emergency vet visit cost?

The cost of a visit to an emergency vet clinic can vary dramatically depending on the severity of the condition, the length of stay, and the specific services required. Expect to pay significantly more than a routine check-up. Costs can range from a few hundred dollars for a simple stabilization to several thousand dollars for complex surgeries or intensive care. Discuss costs openly with the clinic staff before treatment begins, and inquire about payment options and insurance coverage.

What should I bring to the emergency vet clinic?

To ensure efficient care, it’s essential to bring certain items to the emergency vet clinic. This includes your pet’s medical records, vaccination history, current medications, identification (collar with tags, microchip information), and a detailed description of the symptoms you’ve observed. Having photos or videos of the condition can also be beneficial for the veterinarian’s assessment.

Can my regular vet refer me to an emergency vet clinic?

Yes, your regular veterinarian can absolutely refer you to an appropriate emergency vet clinic. They can provide valuable information about your pet’s medical history and current condition, which will help the emergency clinic staff quickly assess the situation and tailor the treatment plan. It's often the best way to ensure a smooth transition of care.

What if my regular vet is closed?

In situations where your regular vet is closed – whether due to the time of day or weekend – an emergency vet clinic is your immediate resource. These clinics are specifically designed to provide care when conventional options are unavailable. Don’t delay seeking treatment if your pet needs urgent medical attention. They are equipped to handle situations that require immediate intervention.

What if I don't have pet insurance?

Even without pet insurance, seeking care at an emergency vet clinic is still a worthwhile investment. The cost of treatment can be substantial, but the potential for saving your pet’s life outweighs the financial burden. Discuss payment options with the clinic, and explore potential financing solutions if needed. Prioritize your pet’s well-being, and don’t hesitate to seek help when it’s required.

How do I prepare my pet for an emergency vet visit?

While you can’t predict emergencies, taking some preparatory steps can minimize stress for your pet. Keep your pet’s carrier readily accessible and familiar. Bring calming aids (if your vet recommends them) and provide a comfortable blanket or toy. Remain calm and reassuring – your pet will pick up on your emotions. The more relaxed your pet is, the smoother the vet visit will be, and the better the chances of a positive outcome.
