Customer Reviews
IZOLA has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 based on over 2333 reviews on Google
Went around noon and most of the croissants were already sold out. Noticed people picking up preordered goods, so that seems like the way to go. We ordered 3 croissants and they were gorgeous to look at and tasted pretty good. As expected, they had a crispy, flaky, crunchy outer shell and soft and tender with multiple layers inside. Presentation is very nice and pleasing. Price ranged from $10 to $17 per croissant. We ordered 3 and it came out to $44. The carnitas croissant was a bit of a disappointment due to the sparse amount of protein inside. It was a nice snack and not by any means a meal. To me it was overpriced for what it was. Nice to try once I guess to see what the fuss is all about. Tables were rather small and cramped. Overall feel of the place was nice and airy. We parked near the I5 overpass and it was a bit shady and smelly, a couple of homeless people camped out there.
If I could give more stars I would this place was so good. Drove from Riverside to San Diego on a Sunday morning just to try their bread, pastries and coffee. Took so much home for the family. Everything we tried was so delicious 😋 if you have a sweet tooth must try the s’mores croissant and have it there they torch the homemade marshmallow in front of you 😋😻. Savory the carnitas croissant 🥐 and we bought the garlic bread, olive whole grain and cranberry pecan all amazing. Must try iced latte coconut. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality the staff is great.
Genuinely the best croissants I’ve ever had. Every time I come here I get the almond croissant and an iced coconut cream latte. Today was very busy due to a holiday and padres game, so they were out of the almond. I was heartbroken. However, the sweet staff, Daisy and Angel, made sure I got my almond croissant. Truly the best staff who always make me feel welcome and appreciated. I hope they know how much I appreciate them back. Thank you thank you thank you IZOLA <3
There is absolutely a reason IZOLA was named the best bakery in America and it’s because the croissants 🥐 and sourdough do all the talking. I have had my fair share of croissants and I don’t know if I ever have had such a unique and divine experience as eating that bibimbap croissant. The house made sauce they decorate with is exquisite and I wish I could buy a jar and take it home with me. Truly an incredible experience with friendly staff, phenomenal food and immaculate vibes. Loved the sourdough sampler and a must if you want to try their new creations. You can overdose on carbs at this establishment and you should cause why not go out happy.
I am no expert, but the baked goods at Izola are truly on another level. The only things I can even compare them to are the bakeries I visited in Europe a couple of years ago. We tried the chocolate croissant, the almond croissant, and the bibimbap croissant. I never would have imagined that savory and spicy flavors could pair so perfectly with a flaky croissant, but it works brilliantly. I have always been a huge fan of almond croissants in general, and Izola version is just as incredible as their savory creation. Even though we were completely full after finishing the croissants, we still could not resist picking up the Lao Gan Ma sourdough. Just as all the other reviews mentioned, it is absolutely fantastic. Walking in for the first time gave me that same special feeling I had decades ago when I first visited the original Extraordinary Desserts. It is that rare kind of place that takes something simple and elevates it into something extraordinary. It is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality makes it well worth every single penny. I cannot recommend Izola enough!
I remember when this place was in a two or three story building and it was on the second floor. It was then, but visiting after being away 3 years in the new location was an interesting experience. They had a wonderful musician covering Jack Johnson there, and the vibe was great! But, the real reason you go is for the French delicacies. Wow! It's still really good and yummy! I had the regular and almond croissants, and a wonderful hot chocolate. Bring yourself and your family, your date, or come by yourself and enjoy the food, the vibe, and nice music! You won't be disappointed! Be sure to show up early due to how popular this place is. And, parking is ok because it's downtown, but you should be able to find parking not to far away.
Absolutely worth the hype. The best croissants I have ever had, even better than in Paris. We got the veggie bibimbap, poached wine pear, and brown butter caramel knot. Even though our order was to go, everything was warm and crispy when we sat down to eat. There was a line outside by the time I arrived around 11 AM, but it moved quickly and the cashiers knew which items would be restocked versus which ones were out for the day. Strongly recommend pre-ordering, even on a weekday
