I was highly impressed, the gentleman behind the booth was extremely helpful. I wasn't prepared and he was very patient with me and assisted me with filling out my registration form. I was so grateful, cause I was not feeling well. Excellent Job!

The two technicians standing outside under the tent are amazing! I had a virtual intake with a medical provider that was quick. Booking an appointment is also quick and i received my negative Covid results within 15 minutes via email and text. I recommend Premium Health in Santa Ana medical facility highly.

I made my appointment through the app. & showed up a few minutes before my 6 p.m. Friday appointment, but no one was there. Some people who work in one of the nearby buildings told me that they usually close up their tent @ 5. Kindly update your website so that no one else has the same inconvenience.

This process was super easy. I don't need to be afraid of getting covid from anyone testing. It's and opened location, not a room full of sick people. Loved it! I will definitely take this route and recommend others to do so.

I've been to various locations, and they were all easy to navigate and efficient. Results were sent in a timely manner. This is my go-to facility that does not charge if you have insurance. I was able to get a rapid PCR test, not just a rapid antigen.

This place is great! Just make sure you have an appointment it's easy to do online. If you don't have an appointment, there will be a waiting time because this place gets super busy. My visit was quick and simple. The technician was very friendly and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Thank you and great job. The only issue right now is the road construction. When you go north on Armstrong after Herndon take the first driveway in because the second one is blocked

This should never happen. My experiences at this location have been great and usually, my husband has great feedback as well. Earlier this week when he went in for labs, the man who did the blood draw absolutely demolished my husband's arm. He dug around after the needle was inserted and then the majority of the bruising was from him digging in the tube and pushing his entire hand and arm into my husband's arm to hold the receptacle steady, I guess? My husband is not a complainer but when I know how good their staff is and this occurs, attention needs to be paid.

The staff at this Quest facility continues to be the best! My phlebotomist was Monica (?). She was very kind, putting me at ease. And so gentle, I had no idea that she was already filling the vials. I keep my eyes closed because I hate seeing needles or blood. Monica made it quick and painless.

Came in for my 3rd time today and got seen in minutes. I’m usually someone who hates needles so I’m glad labs are usually an in-and-out process. But today’s staff member who took my labs (Lacey) was very empathetic and made the process more welcoming; as well as made my embarrassing fear for needles much less fearful. Not that my previous visits were unsatisfactory, but it felt very dull/rushed during those times. Glad today came with a much more comfortable dialogue and an overall good atmosphere.

Having an appointment ahead of time really streamlines the system. Normally the wait is reasonable. The staff is efficient….. but currently absorbing the change in ownership to Labcorp which rocks the boat a little. June 27, 2024 around 10:30am I went in to check in by using their monitor thing that they have. I was right away called to the window to turn in the paper work and I did. I let them know that my son(he was the one getting blood drawn) is Autistic and that he would need to be restraint, the receptionist said that they didn't have anything to restraint him with. I told her that my husband would be the one holding him and that I was just letting them know ahead of time. My husband and son were called in right away. It was a mess they were in no way prepared to handle a situation like that even when my husband told them how to hold his arm because we've gone through this in the past. Long story short blood got on the face of one of the women there and they were only able to get a small amount of blood out of my son. I 1000% don't recommend this place at all and we will never be back again. Ps. Learn how to handle situations involving Autistic Individuals and know that not everyone wants to be spoken too. Sometimes talking to an Autistic child makes things worse. Also, listen to the child's parents when they say something to make your job easier!

There is one young woman who saved this rating from getting ½ star. If I find out her name, I'll update the review. I'm here every 4 weeks with time-sensitive specimens, and the employees are short with me, not very helpful and have no sense or urgency. The young woman is always friendly, she greets me, smiles and hurries because she understands. She practices great customer service. Maybe her co-workers should observe her and take notes.

Quail Diagnostic Labs has been consistently excellent. Scheduling is easy and they always have appointments available when I need them. I’m usually in and out quickly, which I really appreciate. Bianca, the phlebotomist at Merced "G" Street Quest, was very professional, nice, and such a pleasant young lady. When Bianca drew my blood, I never felt the "poke" of the needle and my arm shows no indication that I had blood drawn. She is the first phlebotomist, ever, to leave no bruising or redness. I'm not completely sold on the idea of everything moving towards the digital age and away from customer service; but this is one place where I am totally on-board with it. Worst quest exp serene ever. If there were better options in Merced, I would try them! Lab tech gave me wrong urine collection receptacles and I had to repeat 2 24 hr collections! Told me to bring them back to drop off but didn’t tell me I had to make an appt to do so. There is no person at the desk to discuss concerns with upon arrival. When I went back again to deliver new spec containers, with an appt, there was over an hour wait. I had to leave to work! Sent my spouse back with them but even with an appt there was over an hour wait! And he couldn’t stay cause he had a meeting scheduled! I called Quest to file a complaint and was told someone would call me back but no one has! What is going on with the Merced G St lab? Worst service I’ve ever experienced of any kind of business ever! The plebes have been good but need better training for new horses and need a better organized place to work!!!!

This is the first time I’ve been to this location since they’ve renovated and moved everything downstairs. The last time was years ago for an employer. They have a self check in with the kiosk and you need a QR code. Once you check in there you just have a seat in the lobby and wait for them to call you. Once I checked in, I waited about five minutes in the lobby was fairly full, but they seem to have a good system down with no long waiting.

The service here is super slow, and the staff has no customer service skills. They will continue to take appts and ignore the walk ins. For example someone checked in for an appt at 7:20 it was 6:55 they could of at least taken one walk in that got here since 6:30 that’s the way it’s suppose to work. Here’s a thought if you don’t want to take walk ins then don’t advertise that you do. That’s what your business is based off. If you don’t have the staff then that’s a staffing issue fix it!

I logged on, picked my location, selected the appointment time for 1:20 and received a receipt with a QR Code which I printed to take with me. I also immediately received a text confiming my appointment. I checked my order (twice) and received confirmation that the order was associated with my 1:20 appointment. At 12:11 I received a text directing me that when I arrive I should click the link to check in. I arrived to the center and used the aforementioned link to check in at 1:15 and it told me I was all checked in and that I didn't need to use the kiosk and that all I need to do is sit down and await someone to call my name. I also recieved a text at the same time directing me to enter the center, have a seat, and that I would be called soon – adding that "No need to check in again when you get inside". I sat there for 20 minutes watching people walk in, check in at the kiosk, sit down and then be called within minutes so I decided to get the attention of one of the staff who came out to call someone else and explained my concern. I showed my texts and she asked me to wait while she checked. She came out looking very confused and said that she had no record of me having an appointment. I then pulled out the printout with the QR code and she dissappeared once more. She came back a couple of minutes later looking even more perplexed and said that again there was no record of me but that she would take me back since the printout clearly showed my appointment. So what should have been a 5 to 10 minute visit to go pee in a cup ended up beeing close to 45 minutes of utter frustration!

Before I even come here. I read the reviews and to be honest it is not what it seems coming from those bad reviews. I made an appointment at 12:00pm two days before I even go in. I got there early at 11:35am. Checked in with my information. Went and sat down. There’s a tv on the side of the building showing you where you are at in the waiting line. They do call you to the back close to your appointment. Called me in at 12:05pm. The girl who took my blood was super friendly. Very fast at drawing my blood. If you want a pleasant experience I highly recommend you make an appointment. I would not do "Walk-in" just because they have that option it means a person who has an appointment they get first priority over you. Unless no one shows up to their appointment then you’ll be able to take that time slot for walk in. If you want to wait hours for walk in then it is your choice. I gave you a warning. Make an "Appointment" Do not do Walk- In. Overall I’m satisfied with my visit. No complaints.

If you are paying out of pocket they only take exact cash or check. No credit cards!! I didn't know this, so unfortunately they're going to have to bill me separate and I will have to pay more. However, the employees at this location are super nice and we had a good conversation about how hopefully that would change soon! They spent time with everyone but got through the four people in front of me very quickly.

I've been there a few times had a little bit of wait, but not bad it's worth it, the whole staff are really friendly and great. I recommend going there.

I usually love this place, the staff is efficient and it’s pleasant. Today, someone had some kind of overly rough borderline rap music on. Most the folks visiting here are elderly. Read the room, find something mellow. Thanks! UPDATE: Next time I was in, they were playing some low-key pleasant music. Thank you! 😉

Been waiting alone in waiting room for 40 minutes. I’ve seen 4 different techs walking around in and out of open rooms. There is only one other patient being addressed. This isn’t the first time this has happened. They see me and avoid eye contact. Please provide some training to your employees about prioritizing those of us waiting.

I usually go to another dignity health lab but this location was convenient at the time my mistake I have never been to a lab so slow in my life it was more like they were practicing their social instead of doing their job as lab techs I will never go back

Signed in 40 minutes ago, still have not talked to anyone or received any service. I'm the only one in the waiting room.

Typical San Luis Obispo shopping center with more trees and shrubbery than parking spaces. Be sure and walk or bike here. Anything larger than a Mini is not going to fit in the tiny parking spaces. Typical and popular establishments are here such as a grocery store and lots of different fast food.

Great service. If you have an appointment, it's always on time. This visit I was back in my car a minute before my appointment. Michelle does an excellent job. It's been my pleasure to have been dealing with Her for several years. She's the best technician that I've ever had draw blood. Never feel anything. A true professional.

03/02/2026 I went in about a week ago. I did not have to wait because there are two station that you can check in with. I had an appointment and was check-in quickly. After checking in, I only had to wait about 5 minutes. The person was nice and friendly. She quickly drew the blood samples, and I was done in a few minutes. There is plenty of parking and the place is clean.

The phlebotomist was amazing! Love your location and I drive there as it’s fully staffed and super efficient even though I have closer options. Ive read the negative reviews and I have to disagree as I always have an apt and the longest I’ve had to wait was 10 mins past my apt time. No issues. Post COVID all labs seem very busy and walk ins are just a NO GO so save yourself the headache and make an appointment it’s online and easy in the app! Also you can input your insurnace info and save everyone an extra step.

The staff is extremely rude and their wait times are ridiculous long even when there are no appointments scheduled. There is no one at the front counter to help the elderly sign in.

Frequently asked questions about medical laboratories in California

What is a medical laboratory, and what types of testing do they perform?

Medical laboratories in California play a crucial role in healthcare by performing a wide range of diagnostic tests. These laboratories, often referred to as clinical laboratories, analyze biological samples – primarily blood, urine, and tissue – to detect diseases, monitor existing conditions, and assess overall health. They offer services categorized into several areas, including hematology (blood testing), clinical chemistry (analyzing chemicals in bodily fluids), immunology (assessing the immune system), microbiology (identifying infectious agents), and molecular diagnostics (using genetic analysis).

How are medical laboratories regulated in California?

The operation of medical laboratories in California is strictly regulated by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), specifically the Division of Clinical Laboratory Quality Assurance (DCLQA). Laboratories must adhere to a comprehensive set of regulations outlined in the California Clinical Laboratory Laboratory Accreditation Program (CCLAP). These regulations cover all aspects of laboratory operations, including personnel qualifications, equipment validation, quality control procedures, data security, and reporting requirements. Regular accreditation audits are conducted to ensure compliance.

What accreditation standards do California laboratories need to meet?

To operate legally in California, laboratories must be accredited by CCLA. This accreditation signifies that the laboratory meets nationally recognized standards set by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the National Accreditation Board (NAB). Achieving accreditation demonstrates a laboratory's commitment to quality assurance, proficiency, and patient safety. The CAP/NAB standards encompass rigorous requirements for method validation, instrument calibration, and staff training.

What is the role of proficiency testing in medical laboratories?

Proficiency testing is a critical component of quality control in California medical laboratories. It involves periodically submitting samples to an external organization, which then analyzes them and provides performance data. This data allows laboratories to assess the accuracy and reliability of their testing methods and identify any systematic errors. Participation in proficiency testing demonstrates a laboratory's commitment to providing accurate results.

How do laboratories ensure the security of patient data?

Medical laboratories handle highly sensitive patient information, making data security a paramount concern. California laboratories are required to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which mandates the implementation of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect patient data. These safeguards include access controls, data encryption, regular security audits, and employee training on data privacy best practices. Laboratories must also maintain robust record-keeping procedures.

What is the difference between a reference laboratory and a core lab?

The terms ‘reference laboratory’ and ‘core lab’ describe different types of laboratory services. A reference laboratory specializes in complex, specialized testing that often requires expert interpretation and is frequently used for research or consultation. These labs typically handle tests that are not routinely performed locally. A core lab, on the other hand, offers a broader range of routine testing services commonly used by hospitals and clinics, focusing on standardized procedures and volume testing.

What are the requirements for personnel working in medical laboratories?

Individuals working in medical laboratories in California must meet specific qualification requirements, which vary depending on the type of testing they perform. Typically, laboratory personnel must possess a relevant degree in a scientific discipline, such as biology, chemistry, or medical technology. Many positions require certification by the National Accrediting Board for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (NAB). Continuous professional development and training are also essential to maintain competence and stay abreast of emerging technologies.

How do laboratories handle quality control samples?

Quality control (QC) samples are integral to maintaining the accuracy and reliability of testing in California laboratories. These samples, prepared and analyzed alongside patient samples, serve as benchmarks to monitor the performance of instruments and methods. QC samples are categorized into different levels – control, corrective, and aberrant – and their results are meticulously reviewed to identify and address any instrument malfunctions or method errors. Regular QC monitoring is a legal requirement.

What is the process for reporting abnormal test results?

When a laboratory identifies an abnormal test result, a specific reporting process must be followed. The laboratory is legally obligated to immediately notify the ordering physician or healthcare provider of the result. A detailed report, including the methodology used, quality control data, and interpretation, is then provided. This process ensures timely communication and allows for appropriate clinical action.

What are the trends in technology within California's medical laboratories?

California’s medical laboratories are increasingly adopting cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround times. These include automation of laboratory processes, high-throughput testing platforms, next-generation sequencing (NGS) for molecular diagnostics, point-of-care testing devices, and laboratory information systems (LIS) for managing data and workflows. The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning is also gaining traction for data analysis and result interpretation.
