Center Street Parking Garage

The parking signage is extremely misleading and feels intentionally unclear. When I entered the lot after 5pm, there was no evening sign posted anywhere to clearly indicate that a different pricing policy applied. I later noticed there was small print mentioning an evening rate, but the large print everywhere says "$3/hr," including next to the hours listed for Mon–Fri 5:30am–1am. Naturally, I assumed the regular hourly rate still applied. I was parked for only around 30 minutes and ended up being charged $9, which is honestly ridiculous. Charging someone $9 for less than an hour of parking feels predatory and completely unreasonable. If there’s a special evening rate, it should be displayed clearly and prominently before drivers enter the lot — not hidden in tiny text after the fact. This whole experience felt deceptive and left a really bad impression.

Center Street Parking Garage is close to many businesses and UC Berkeley, which is why parking rates are higher compared to other parking garages from Downtown Berkeley. Basically, it’s $3/hr until your 4th hour, which is $25. These parking garage levels are quite complex because their names start with a number and then letter (e.g. 4E), which is why I had a hard time looking for my car since I only relied on just the parking level rather than its name. Be careful not to park overnight and then the next day. Some reviewers said that they can’t go to their cars since they arrived outside of hours of operation and ended up paying way more most likely because their cars are parked the next day and that parking rates are enforced. I highly advise you to read the signs carefully and leave the garage before this garage closes. Overall, this is a convenient parking garage to go to if you plan to stay for more than 4 hours.

Scam - I was there for 30 min and they charged $9. It's not clear that it's 9 bucks and you cannot pay hourly when the hourly rate is what's big and bold. Hope someone sues these guys for their slimey behavior. Definition of Predatory pricing

**TERRIBLE! DON’T BE FOOLED BY SIGNAGE AND TOTALLY MISLEADING!!!** Read between the lines. Was there overnight and paid $58. Called ahead of time and guy said it was $25 for overnight stay. Put the ticket in and it asked for $58. Just don’t trust anything they say, hidden charges. Horrible.

Scam. Sign says $25/day max. But if you park overnight, 9am-9am it cost $75 thru magic pricing structure.
