PD had been struggling with IVDD and neck pain for almost two months before a friend recommended this hospital to us. Dr. Phillip Schissler quickly identified the problem and gave us two treatment options. After a week of medication with little improvement, we went back for a recheck and decided to proceed with surgery. Dr. Schissler is very experienced, caring, and professional, and the entire front desk team was incredibly kind and helpful. You can truly tell that everyone here cares about the dogs. It’s been two weeks since PD’s surgery, and he was already pain-free on the day of surgery. His recovery has been going really well so far. We’re so grateful we found this place! If your dog has IVDD, I highly recommend coming here.
Thank you Dr Dillard and everyone from medical assistants to receptionists for getting us in so quick from the moment I called back in February about my Doxie Tito, getting him an MRI and into surgery to repair a huge herniated disc that caused him to stop using his back legs. He went from not being able to walk to 2 weeks post surgery holding his body weight and taking somewhat stable steps to releasing him from care 6 weeks post surgery because he was healing so well. He is back to running around and enjoying life again (but not back to jumping off furniture lol). Dr Dillard is absolutely amazing and so kind and we are forever grateful for her and everyone there for giving our boy good quality of life after his surgery.
My Ginger injured her cervical neck and our vet recommended Veterinary Neurology Center in Tustin. I got appointment few days later. We meet Dr Phillip Schissler for consultation & he diagnosed her with IVDD( mineralized disc). Dr Phillip Schissler did MRI and surgery the same day. We got amazing results, Ginger will be back her Doxie self again. We got to pick up next day. Dr. Schissler and the staff were amazing, I highly recommend them.
We brought our kitten, Wilma, to the Veterinary Neurology Center after previously seeing a vet who made unrealistic promises about curing her paraplegia. After months of uncertainty, meeting with Dr. Emily Sun was a breath of fresh air. Wilma came to us as a rescue kitten with severe lower-body paralysis from being thrown out of a moving car onto the 110 Fwy in Wilmington. Dr. Sun performed a thorough neurological examination and reviewed her spinal radiographs, confirming that Wilma is deep pain sensation negative due to severe spinal cord trauma. Rather than selling us false hope or chasing unviable treatments, Dr. Sun was completely honest with us. She clearly explained Wilma's condition, demonstrated passive range of motion exercises to keep her joints flexible, and reassured us that paralyzed cats can live incredibly happy, active, and comfortable lives. Dr. Sun gave us the definitive answer and closure we really needed for our sweet girl. Because of her expertise and compassionate guidance, we stopped chasing a false cure and can now focus entirely on giving Wilma the best quality of life. We are so grateful to Dr. Sun and the entire team at the Veterinary Neurology Center for treating Wilma with such incredible kindness and care.
This group at Veterinary Neurology Center is incredibly special. After my sweet Rylee began seizing from meningitis/encephalitis, we were referred here and taken care of by such wonderful people who care deeply about their jobs and your pets. Rylee was first under Dr. Vurik’s care, where she was diagnosed with epilepsy, and she always treated us with kindness and compassion. Dr. Vurik answered my many questions and helped me navigate this scary and unpredictable disease. After Dr. Vurik’s departure, we were seen by Dr. Dugas, who is incredibly knowledgeable and was instrumental in Rylee’s care as her epilepsy became more and more aggressive. The girls at the front desk are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Not only were they on top of my many phone calls and prescription refills, but they always treated us like family. Rylee absolutely loved visiting and was showered with love, affection, and her favorite—treats. Without this amazing group of people, Rylee would not have been able to live such a full and happy life for almost nine years. When Rylee suffered a massive seizure, I couldn’t have navigated it without them. Ultimately, Rylee passed, and the love I received absolutely blew me away. They sent me flowers, and we cried together on the phone. I will never forget how you treated me with such kindness during the worst thing I’ve ever gone through—the loss of my soul dog and best friend. I am incredibly thankful to you all for giving Rylee the best life and, in turn, making me the luckiest dog mom in the world. You guys are the best. 🩷
