Dr.Coldy Berger thank you for taking care of my foot he's the best I've been seeing him for all my foot pain walked out of there a happy patient yesterday I was in so much pain. I feel at lot better my feet are not the best but if I can walk I can do anything and being comfortable on my feet is everything. Especially with the kinda work I do... Also the office has great customer service from the front desk to the nurses. Most definitely recommend this doctor ,and office.
A fantastic experience from start to finish! Receptionist very courteous and checked me in. The doctor himself saw me and made recommendations! Very caring, deeply concerned! The young lady who escorted me in the examination room was very friendly and smart: told me what would happen and gave me next steps! Excellent visit! The young lady who took care of my feet did a wonderful job—my feet looked amazing and she also fitted me for other devices! She was also person, professional and caring. Dr Berenter has a great staff, lovely offices! I really liked how clean and neat every office was and how his certifications were well-apppointed
Dr. Berger has been taking care of my foot since surgery since day one! If you need correct, and professional surgery done the correct way, I they recommend him!!! - Matthew
They are challenging to work with when renewing prescription. Forced to visit office to just renew prescription. Care was good otherwise but feels dated for a healthcare provider in 2026. They need a tech upgrade (website, prescriptions) and get organized.
Trying to speak to someone via phone at the office is very difficult. They have a service that answers the phone and all you can do is leave message as no one is ever available and the MA never calls back. Office should have submitted my prescription on Wednesday - nothing was submitted, I called Friday to see if there was an issue and no called back, I called again in Monday and of course the office is unavailable again and the MA will call me back - Right. I also had to wait over 50 minutes after I was taken back to a room to see the doctor. No one had the decency to let me know they had an emergency and would be running behind. This place has extremely Poor Poor customer service. I'm switching to a different office. Don't go to the La Mesa office.
Billing Nightmare!! Like some other reviewers here who have experienced the same horrible service, we've also been over-billed by $1k's for orthodics! After 4+ months of numerous phone calls to the doctor's office and billing department, it's still not resolved! And we keep on getting bombarded with harassing texts, emails, mails, that we are late on our payments. The office has already sent a note to the billing department that we're not responsible for the extra charges, and yet nothing has been done. This is wasting too much of our time, and causing a lot of stress! We never want to put any negative reviews online, to give people a chance to correct themselves. But we're at our breaking point regarding this terrible billing service! We hope management will step in and resolve our bills quickly and satisfactorily and we will remove this post. Thank you.
Communication has been infuriating. Saw Dr. Berger early last month who was quick to come to the conclusion that there's nothing that can be done about the pain I'm experiencing with my curled/hammered toes or Achilles. He was OK with proceeding with orthotics upon my insistence, so his nurse took the scans and said I'd get a call within the week once they heard back from insurance. I called the practice after 10 days of radio silence, and the person who took my call was dismissive and just said "still waiting," with no further information about what to expect or how much longer it'd take. By day 15, I sent a message through the online portal prompting for an update, which has never been acknowledged despite the "reply in 2 business days" promise. Meanwhile, my PT actively scoffed at the doctor's fatalistic conclusion and has already made some progress with my pain, with the caveat that using the orthotics during sessions will make his efforts more successful. 2 weeks ago (on day 22) I called to check in again, and the woman I spoke to said that the claim had been authorized in full 2 days prior. It was like pulling teeth getting her to explain anything further, but I got her confirmation that this meant there was no copay, and that the practice was then actively working on preparing the orthotics for my pickup in 2-4 weeks. While I was frustrated with the lack of call to inform me (and the stale unread message in the portal), I was thrilled to be proceeding, and then surprised to receive a call today when that seemed a bit early given the track record thus far... While the woman on the phone today was the kindest and most informative person I have spoken to throughout this journey, her call was to notify me that insurance had rejected the orthotics and it's $600 out of pocket!!! I asked for clarification since this was in such stark contrast with what'd been communicated to me prior, and she informed me that insurance had authorized the claim with ANOTHER supplier. I understand that insurance can be frustrating and everyone is busy, but I have been waiting in pain for 5 weeks now just to find out that it's been wasted time due to their communication failure. I hope they learn from their mistakes and train their front desk staff on how to interpret whatever was misread to me on their end, and that this provider may receive the further training needed to be able to offer solutions beyond "try some toe spacers on Amazon" or refer out to more advanced physicians so that "there's nothing that can be done" isn't considered an acceptable conclusion to a visit.
