Good luck Diana, you did such an awesome job and I know you'll do great in your upcoming career. I'd recommend SJVC as a client any day. The facilities are pleasant, the instructors are always on hand and I appreciate the top notch care I received.
Thank you very much SJVC for connecting with me and helping me from the start to the end. SJVC Help Desk for assisting with log ins, phone number changes. SJVC advisors, instructors for all you help with preparing me with everything I needed to complete my educational journey. I started out confused but by the end I was able to navigate, read, study and get my assignments in in a timely manner. Thank you so much for all the love, generosity, patience, and time. You all ROCK!
From my personal experience, the HVAC Technician program at San Joaquin Valley College was a great opportunity to learn the trade in a hands-on environment. The program covers the fundamentals of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration, and it gives students the chance to work directly with real equipment instead of just learning from books. What I appreciated most was how the instructors shared their real-world experience and were willing to help when I had questions.
I'm recently completed my AA in Medical Billing and Coding, and I really enjoyed the course setup! The staff was always very helpful and ready to answer my questions at any time. I was able to work my classes around my busy schedule and complete all the courses on time. I've even recommended my son to look into the school as he is also working full time. I have really enjoyed being an SVJC student and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to go back to school.
Had trouble getting in touch with someone for 5 months to pay back my tuition. This place was bad at answering their phones. It was not until someone new came on my case named Brandon helped me out in who works in Student Accounts, he’s the reason I give this school a better rating. I appreciate that this is the only person who knows how to do their job with compassion and answers their phones, which is bare minimum if you ask me. I’ve had horrible experiences with anyone else in the office. Counselors here tell you wrongful information to get you to buy into going to the school. Told me I didn’t need to find patients to pass the Dental Hygiene program that all my patients will be provided from the school. Wrong information. Paid thousands of dollars to not get scrubs or dental kit for months.
Staff are helpful BUT If you don’t have a drivers license you won’t get accepted into their programs. I got rejected for not having a license due to a disability that I have. So if you sign up make sure you have a Drivers license and if you don’t have one and can’t get one GOOD LUCK in getting approved!
Attending San Joaquin Valley College’s Visalia campus, particularly the Respiratory Therapy program, has been a very discouraging experience. Many days, it honestly does not feel good to even show up to school. A large portion of the instructors come across as rude, dismissive, or uninterested in student success. While there may be a few teachers who genuinely care, most do not create a supportive or motivating learning environment. Not only that we are paying over $50,000 just to be in this program and we don’t receive any financial aid so that’s another thing. That’s another story for another day. At times, it feels like students are being set up for failure due to poor communication, lack of guidance, and an overall absence of empathy. Questions are often met with irritation instead of clarification, and there is little encouragement when students are clearly struggling in a demanding program. Some staff members also contribute to this environment, making the school feel more like a prison than a place of learning and growth. This program is extremely frustrating and poorly implemented, adding unnecessary stress rather than supporting our education. Instead of helping students succeed, it often feels like another obstacle. Respiratory Therapy is already a challenging field, and students need instructors who care, guide, and uplift, not intimidate or discourage. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. Because of the lack of support, professionalism, and genuine concern for student success, I would not recommend this program or campus to others.
